Indian Camp Day 3

Breakfast was scheduled for 7:30 am but 7:30 came and went. Diane finally took the golf cart over to the meadow just to make sure they all survived the storm and we were pleased to find out that the campers survived the tropical storm Christobal during the night. The lightning flashed and the thunder rumbled bringing rain a couple times but the teepee and longhouses did NOT leak. They were up during the night so all slept in and were pretty tired. Breakfast was about 15 minutes late.

Below they are learning where and how to dig for clay to make pottery.

pony rides today included the littlest Indians.

Karin was kept very busy these 3 days giving 45 kids trail rides.
Below they are getting ready for the canoe races.

the video below of the race.
The final snack came around 3:00 pm.
Camp offically ended at 4:00 pm Below Joan is rolling up the tarps and putting things away until 2021.
IF you would like to see the rest of the camp pictures taken today click HERE. I will confess I didn't take the pictures this afternoon, Dr. Hoerr was scheduled to come to geld Josiah and Joshua. He arrived about 12:15 pm. Brian came to help hold the horses up once they were asleep. Josiah was taken out first.

The gelding of Josiah went smoothly without incident. Next Dr. Hoerr removed his wolf teeth.
I put the testicles and the teeth on a board and put it on Mark's flat bed trailer to by buried later. Next was Joshua. Below Brian is holding Joshua steady while Dr. Hoerr washes the area.
Below is a short video of part of the procedure. It is pretty graphic so you may not want to play it for children unless you are prepared to explain what he is doing and why.
Joshua's wolf teeth were also removed.
The owners of both Josiah and Joshua were sent the pictures of their horses being done. Both horses woke up and I just let them graze in the yard while I worked on moving bales. We had an unexpected rain move in and I still needed to move a bale in Lily's paddock. That was done in the rain. By the time I finished it was time to start dinner. Phil and Anna's family along with Ben and Taunya's family were joining us for Chicken Teriyaki, wild rice, salad, rolls, fruit and ice cream for dessert. I barely had time to clean up the dishes before it was time to head to mom's for church. Tim Roecker had the message. Ruth, mom, Mark and I watched. When I got back I went straight up to the barn to clean stalls when the grand children came running up all excited. They told me they found BRAINS and TEETH on the trailer.   I had forgotten to bury the evidence.  I was trying very hard not to laugh as they were exclaiming, "BRAINS grandma, we found BRAINS!"
They ran up to the house carrying the board with the 'brains' to show their parents. They came out of the house asking why someone removed their intesticles, somehow mixing up intestines with testicles and why would someone DO that and why were their teeth in the intesticles?  By this time I'm laughing so hard tears are flowing. I finally was able to explain why we did what we did to Joshua and Josiah and why it is needed. Country kids need to learn...right?
