They took a hike in the woods to find sticks suitable for bows and fishing poles.
they were brought back to camp to strip the bark, notch them and string the bows.
There was lunch break, more work on bows, arrows and wrist bands that matched each Indian's bows, arrows and fishing poles. Then taken over to cool off in the lake. We had adults watching but there were so many Indian's we decided the next swimming would need to be done in shifts.
Snacks were next.

Lots of facepainting
fishing for tomorrow's dinner.
Horseback riding through the trails. Today they did the perilous plunge trail which includes a creek crossing, steep climbs and deep perilous plunges down ravines and up cliffs. All survived.
After the evening activities they were hiked back down to the longhouse where Joan had a big campfire burning. She told them stories of different Indian tribes of long ago and the mystery surrounding them.
Somemores were made along with hot chocolate.
There were 28 Indians that stayed in the longhouse and Teepee. Some of the helpers stayed in Rache's cabin while some stayed in Rachel's house, the camper, Rhonda's house and the apartment. IF you would like to see the rest of the pictures from the first day of Indian camp click HERE.
It was a VERY long day.
