8-2-10:Today we pulled out around 8 from the Salters. What a blessing they were! Their cheerful hospitality was a sweet example of Christian love. For devotions we finished up the book of Esther and took the opportunity to pray for the Salters and for their future as well as our own as we drove away. Heather continued reading “Brushko” as we traveled. It was amazing to hear how the same God whose majestic handiwork we were witnessing on such a large scale took the time to prepare even the legends of an isolated South American tribe so that they would be receptive to the gospel. We were blessed with beautiful scenery all day today and saw some prairie dogs along the road. After a quick lunch in the car, we stopped at Treasure Falls to take pictures of the waterfall and the mountain stream. Around 2 we stopped at the chimney rock national moment to hike around, but lightning was rolling in and we decided the shortened hike was not worth the price. Instead we went on to Durango to make reservations for our hike there the next day. Later we arrived at Mesa Verde where we planned to spend two nights. After breaking out the tent for the first time and setting up the camper, we enjoyed some hot dogs and baked beans for supper. We played around the campground with some balls we brought and enjoyed the beauty of the magnificent valley where our campsite was nestled. In the evening we attended an outdoor talk and beautiful slideshow about the history of national parks. Though a little chilly after dark, we have had beautiful weather so far and can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
