Arches National Park

Journal update from Ellie: 8/5/19 Day 7 Monday.

Today we left the Arches National Park. What a cool place!!!!
We went on a hike before we left to see some arches that we hadn't seen before.
We took off at about 10:45 to go white water rafting!!
We made it to the boat loading station and had a quick break. About 20 minutes later we were on the water. After a nice stop for lunch we got back on the water and and had a nice swim. In order to get back in the raft someone had to grab you by your life vest, dunk you under the water, and then pull you up.
We went through a couple nice rapids and we got soaked. At another calm point we got out of the raft and went swimming. I swam around the raft quietly and poor Faith had her legs sticking out. I quickly grabbed her legs and yelled "watch out!!" She let out a high pitched screeching noise. I scared the living daylight out of her. We made it to the end in one piece. We then went to a cool place that had dinosaur foot prints!! It was super hot but a cool experience.😂 We just arrived at a gorgeous place called Canyon Lands National Park. We couldn’t find our campsite and there was no one to ask so we picked another one near the bathrooms. It worked out well. Journal update from Faith:
Day 8 Tuesday After a wonderful omelet breakfast, we packed up our campsite and left Canyon Land about 9:00 this morning. A short way down the road, we hiked two short trails there in the National Park to see Cave Spring, which is a historic cowboy camp, and Roadside Ruins, which is ancient Pueblo ruins! After seeing the beautiful sights and taking lots of pictures, we set off on our five hour drive to Capitol Reef National Park! Around 4 hours into the drive, we stopped at a scenic overlook that had a breathtaking view of the Colorado River and Lake Powell and we saw a coyote hunting in the shallow water and islands below! Once we arrived at our campsite, we unpacked the camper while the boys set up their tent. This campground is named Fruita Campground because there are many fruit trees around that were planted years ago. We enjoyed watching the mule deer wander through the camp and marmots scampering around until we hiked Cohab Canyon Trail. When we got back to the camp, we started a fire, ate a delicious supper, and enjoyed an evening of making s’mores and pudgy pies! - Faith
