I arrived in Farmington right at noon and parked in the circle drive, close to the gym door. The horses were left in the trailer while I started the pop corn and cotton candy. Karin arrived just a little after noon and as soon as she opened the trailer door some ladies jumped out of their car to ask when we were starting. Karin told them to give her 10 minutes but honestly they were chomping at the bit so to speak, that it didn't take Karin 10 minutes to tack up the two horses. One of the ladies led Missy with her son riding while Karin led Bunni. I grabbed the mounting block and ran ahead to open the gate. By the time we had the 2 horses in the ring we had a line up of people waiting for rides. We put a neighbor boy to work while I ran for the table, cotton candy, popcorn, and the donation bucket then took over for the neighbor boy. He was told he could have a pony ride, cotton candy, or popcorn. He chose cotton candy. Below are a few pictures of the day but most of the time I was busy either giving pony rides or making popcorn and cotton candy.
The rest of the pictures are on the Horsemeister inc Facebook page. To see them click HERE
We were suppose to close up at 4:00 pm so at 3:30 pm I started cleaning up the machines and packing them away. Karin helped with loading the big stuff then taking down the ring. We were just about to put the horses away when another family showed up so they all got rides which put us loading 8 minutes late. Today's workers were Mae and Noah. They arrived at 2:00 pm and put in a good 2 hours. They also helped sell cotton candy.Check out the cone below, a super duper!
Karin had to take her car around to remove all the ponyride signs while I took the horses home. As soon as they were unloaded Nolan and Sarah came riding up on Ribbon and Jenis. Both of these mares are in season now so Jenis was covered by Evan and Ribbon was covered by Valiant.
Mark and I headed over to the playground to watch a few of the volley ball games.
The trees are turning such beautiful colors finally.
We ordered supper from Gils tonight. Sarah and Nolan joined us then headed over to the Sauders for games. Mark helped move all 4 weanlings out of the stalls and into a paddock. They are all standing well for haltering and leading well. This is the first time they have been outside as a group and were not quite sure what to do. We gave them a couple wheel barrow loads of hay, put grain in 2 of the buckets and left them for the night. I'll check on them first thing in the morning but they should be fine. Sheen's colt has a cut on his front right leg that may be infected. It looked a little swollen. I'll hose that off in the morning and check it over better then.
