Last Day
Today may be the last day to be in touch with the world for a week. We are leaving at 4:45am tomorrow morning for the third world country Haiti. My phone will be left home, The international data charges that add up without warning made that decision an easy one to make. Sometimes there is internet service at the compound in Haiti where we will be staying and if so I'll try to check emails but no promises. The Bible studies from Tuesday need to be taken on the walk this morning and dropped off at Rhonda's. Gail Hodel will get them from her and distribute for grading. Two round bales must be moved in, one for the boys and one for the weanlings. They are not out of hay but will be out before the week is up, better to have some waste than worry about no one noticing they need hay. Karin was called yesterday to discuss the herd at Middle Grove. She had such a funny story to tell about Ribbon. She was working the horses one at a time in the round pen but didn't have a halter big enough to fit Ribbon. Ribbon was sure she was next each time Karin finished with a mare. After the 3rd or 4th horse was done Ribbon just couldn't stand the suspense of when Karin would make her work and ran to hide behind a tree. Unfortunately the tree she chose was a sapling. Ribbon is as wide as a truck, she stood there behind the tree peeking around it at Karin sure she was hidden from view. Oh for a camera or video of that. Karin couldn't help chuckling.
Can you imagine this mare thinking she is hidden behind a sapling?
She reported all of the mares were good but Holly the rescue mare was great. Holly will be ready for a rider by spring if the weather holds.
Mark and I had the privilege of caring for Braelyn and Taegan last night. We thought Phil was going to take Anna on a romantic night out, nope they went down to Meisters and cleaned the lower shop area coming home exhausted. They arrived to pick up the girls just as Braelyn was emptying her mom's wallet into our coin jug. CAUGHT! That little girl is so busy and so smart.
It is really dark outside this morning, it is now 6:43 am and an owl is hooting just outside our window. The sun must have forgotten what time it is suppose to rise and shine.
