Storms

Right after our walk I ran up to the apartment to turn the heat up and lights on as we have guests coming in. I had a breakfast date with Amy and Kathy at Bob Evans this morning. Such a treat to be waited on. I wore my brand new vest from Amy. She bought it at the Midwest Horse Fest and it fits perfectly. As Bob Evans is just across the street from Aldi I stopped in there to pick up a bottle of bleach (used to be a $1.00 a gallon and now $4.49 for 3 quarts) a couple dozen eggs and checked out prices of some of the meat but didn't buy any.  On the way home Diane called to see if I would come in to reconcile the Horsemeister check book.  That didn't take long, we had only written 2 checks. I had just made it home when Gerty arrived. We took the golf cart over to the new barn to check out Anna's painting. She has almost finished a room. From there we decided to go to Sam's so we could pick something up for dinner tonight.  When we got home we decided to post an ad on Hanna City Happenings.

The baby girl Gerty had been taking care for over a year is now in daycare so Gerty is now available if someone needs daycare. Gerty offers a wonderful non smoking, no pet and no other children at her home. I can HIGHLY recommend her. We had just finished that when her phone went off with tornado warnings in the area. Right about then the airbnb guest coming in for the apartment sent a message that he was 20 minutes away and running into hail, did we have a place inside for his car? He was told to just drive right into the big barn.  Gerty left to get her car into her garage, Mark drove his car into the new barn and Anna left to get her car into their garage. Below Mark has already moved his car in and Anna is backing out to leave.
Right after the renter arrived it started hailing so he made it just in time. In the video below you can hear the hail hitting the window. We didn't get near as much as Sarah did down by the river.
After the storm was over Jewel was taken out and given her 30 ccs of sulfa then allowed to hand graze for a while.  Irish was checked, her udder is not bagged up. She isn't due until May 5th and the rain is over for tonight so she will be left outside tonight. I noticed Tatiana's filly has a few white hairs on her forehead. I didn't see that earlier but will need to try to get a good picture of those for when we register her. Names this year need to start with W X Y or Z. I chose Zinnia for Lily's filly and like Willow for Tatiana's filly. I also need to register Indy's 2022 colt and his name needs to start T U V and I think Thomas fits him pretty well.
Soon Rosaleigh will need to be picked up, she is due May 15th but usually delivers early.
She is such a beautiful mare we kept her 2022 filly which we named Tessa. The bay mare next to Rosaleigh is Madiera who is due May 30th and does not usually go early. We can wait until May to pick her up. Mark and Mackenson worked on the drives today before the storm, we have some erosion from the last storms. Hopefully all their work didn't end up down in a creek.
