Unexpected Snow

Well it was snowing big fat flakes and that continued most of the morning leaving too much snow on the driveway to safely take the truck and trailer to Middle Grove.
That meant I was here when Karin, Magda and Kayla arrived.  The heater was brought back into the indoor so there would be a place to warm up as they worked horses. Valiant was the first horse brought in.
Magda let Valiant wear the tarp.
When it fell off it looked like Valiant was laughing at her for putting such a silly thing on his back.
Karin always warms up the horses first, she says it is because she wants to make sure he is listening, but we think she just really really likes riding Valiant!
 Magda rode him next.
Kayla is practicing her rising trot on Valiant.
Magda enjoys riding him with no hands.
He was put away and Evan brought inside and he got to carry that silly tarp too. Check out Evan's tail, it is crazy how thick and long it is. Please overlook the mud when looking. We seem to have run out of pushbrooms to clean the horses off. (that was an inside joke)
It sure looked like he was laughing also when the tarp fell. Such funny stallions.
 Karin warmed him up first.
Magda rode Evan after Karin and asked first for the Spanish walk.
Then cantered Evan with no hands also.
Kayla rode him next.  Both stallions are amazing, they listen to their rider and try to please.
Below Kayla is asking for the Spanish walk.
As soon as Evan was put away Hadassah and Jenis were brought inside. They were really glad to get out of the snow and ice and both dropped and rolled.
Hadassah sure is a beautiful mover, she struts!
Jenis was so excited to be able to run she shot straight up into the air.
They both had a good run then got a treat for walking on the tarp.
It was a wonderful training session for all of the horses worked today. If you would like to see the pictures from the horse work click HERE. Mom made a big pot of beef vegetable soup and invited the entire neighborhood over for lunch. Below Joan, mom and Diane are dishing it up.
Soup was the perfect dish to serve on this cold snowy day and mom had a houseful of guests.
We ALL gave her a thumbs up for the delicious meal.
After lunch Karin, Diane, mom and I played games for a couple hours.  Mark went back to work on the barn. Joey and Erik came to install the rest of the new lights and fans in the stall barn. Sarah and Nolan sold another puppy. This is another from Nikki's litter of purebred Poodles, the AKC Moyen size.  They are SO adorable with their curly fluffy coats.  I'm not sure how many are left out of Nikki's litter. If interested in a new puppy for your family please visit Sarah and Nolan's website www.gardnerlanepuppies.com
The laundry is finished, the dishes are done and it isn't even 8:00 pm.
