Tragic
Last night with the rain and awful forecast Zalena was put in a stall but she was so unhappy being away from her pasture mates I decided to test her. She did not even test at 125 so to make her happy turned her out in the weanling paddock. That has the least mud. This morning Ayanna was brought over to the stallion pen to tease and there was a dead foal laying in a puddle. A perfect full term Friesian filly! Zalena delivered during the night, the foal must have slipped out under the fence rolled down the hill and landed in a puddle and drowned. Some days I really wonder if I should be in this business. The heartache today is really hard and I can't keep the tears from rolling down my face. Poor Zalena.
