What should we do on this cold raining day? Read a good book or 2, finish the laundry and chase a bird out of the house. A big black starling fell down the stovepipe into the wood stove. The stove door was left open, the bird flew out but not toward a window, nope it flew upstairs into Rhoda's bedroom then hid under the bed. Emma, who is not allowed upstairs couldn't resist chasing the poor scared feathered friend, wiggled her big fat body under the bed then standing. Soon the bed was being dragged back and forth across the room while the bird stayed just far enough out of her reach. That was the most excitement we had for the morning until Braelyn and Taegan arrived, although they didn't stay long. During a break in the rain Ella and her filly were taken to the outdoor arena for a few pictures. That filly thought she was all that galloping around her mama with her tail straight up in the air.
The rain started back up with huge fat drops splattering down so the horses were rushed back into their stall to try to keep the camera dry. Zalena is bagging up pretty well but when I tried to handle her udder she tried to kick. There is no waxing over but she was brought in for the night just in case. Sure wouldn't want her giving birth in the cold muddy paddock. She isn't due for 13 more days. Karin is coming tomorrow afternoon so I'll put off testing her until I have help. Karin can hold the twitch (or as Jenni would call it, the instrument of torture).
Diane is driving to church tonight.
She is absolutely adorable.
