Bird in Hand

All day today we were cold, on the walk this morning snow was coming down stinging our faces. It was back to winter. Rhoda came over after work to play with Ella's filly. Of course pictures had to be taken.
She is 2 weeks old.
She has really nice conformation, we just have to look past the color to see her long stocky legs, short back and pretty face. She loves showing off. She is getting ready for take off below.
and off she goes!

Rhoda and I were really cold by the time we finished the pictures. We thought of making a fire in the wood stove but just then a bird flew down the chimney into the stove. When Rhoda opened the door the dogs took off after the bird. Darcy caught it but dropped it when Rhoda told her to without hurting it at all. That was the most fun those dogs had since the last bird in the house. Once the bird was let out we look in the wood stove and this is what we see:
Darcy had to come check it out, just to make sure there were no more birds inside.
It never warmed up today starting at 37 degrees and will be around 29 when we wake up tomorrow. I think the high here was only 40 but it was a cold damp 40 with snow flurries on and off all day.
And now for a fun horse video, who likes horses in slomo? ME:
