Mark helped move 3 new bales in early this morning, one for the weanling paddock, one for Jenis' paddock and one for the 4th paddock, the one Holly, Lilypony and Hadassah are in. Only Rachel and I walked, Diane is now in Florida with a couple of friends. Mom had a better night than the night before but she is back on pain medications. She tried to go off but found they are still necessary. It just didn't warm up today, the temperature hovering around 40 degrees, cloudy with a stiff wind and every once in a while the wind would spit a bit of moisture at me as I was working outside. Rhoda arrived just in time to help get mares teased and covered. First to be done was Gem the outside mare, according to Dr. Hoerr and the ultrasound she is to ovulate today, perfect timing. Evan was a real gentleman, not mounting until asked to do so. After she was put away, Rhoda pulled out Valiant while I went to get Holly. Valiant was not a gentleman, actually dragging me over to Holly and jumping before she was ready. Mike is going to have to work with him, he is just too strong for me to handle sometimes. Rhoda decided he needed some ground work manners. She took him away and made him bow every time he tried to run through the lead rope. Then she brought him over to the mare paddocks and made him lay down while Holly and Lilypony were standing at the gate flirting, Ayanna came running up to squeal at him.
Tomorrow Lilypony and Prissy will need to be covered. We headed in to warm up just as Karin arrived. It was just too cold to stay out and watch her work the horses. Rhoda and Mike took Cor Arianne to Middle Grove and will bring back Bunni and Mika for the mounted cowboy shooting clinic tomorrow at Gray Horse Farm. They are taking 7 horses. Rhoda will ride Jenis, Mike will ride Mika leaving Bunni and Sally for some other riders. Karin will drive the living quarter with Missy, Cookie and Paris If they can find enough tack for all 7. We are not sure who needs them, but Gitza asked if we could supply horses for this clinic. Mark came home from work early this afternoon with trees to plant and spent 3 hours outside planting around 20 trees including Norway Spruce, Hickory, Burr Oak and some other hardwoods. After dinner he went back out and spread more grass seed and fertilizer. He brought home 2 bluebird houses that will need to be mounted by the pond tomorrow. He was thankful for the fire in the wood burner by the time he came in out of the cold. Rhoda groomed up the horses going while Mike trimmed their hooves. Just after Rhoda came in we heard a car out on the blacktop screeching around the corner then slamming into something. Mark went down to check it out.
Turns out it was guy driving a truck and trailer that totally wiped out all of the mail boxes, The trailer was loaded with things that went flying! His truck was damaged big time. For some reason he drove off before the police arrived. Mark took the camera down to snap a few shots while trying to pick up everyone's scattered mail, but wasn't sure how to work camera. Below is one of the pictures of just a small bunch of the debris:
