Training the New Mare

After church today Mark helped move a new bale in the weanling paddock and one in Ribbon's old paddock. We want the new mare to be kept away from our mares for a couple of weeks.  Right after church everyone stopped in to see the new mare.  Below mom, Joan and Sarah are just coming out of the barn from visiting her.
Karin was also here with Nancy and she put Nancy to work feeding the weanlings. She loves feeding the horses.
Oksana saw Nancy walking by and stuck her head out for some attention.
She was sad when Nancy left.
Karin had a scheduled trail ride at 3:00 pm this afternoon with Sarah and Anni. Karin rode Galena, Sarah rode Oksana and Anni rode Tory. All the mares did well. They raced and I think Tory won every race.  Below Anni is bringing in Oksana and Sarah is bringing in Galena.
 Karin is leading Tory.
Rhoda came after church to start working with the new mare. She was taken to the outdoor arena first for a few pictures then brought into the round pen for instructions.
We were pretty thrilled with her responses to everything Rhoda asked.

This session was kept short, about a half hour as by that time dinner was ready.  After supper we went to the playground for volleyball games. It was really cold so no one wanted to sit outside to watch the games tonight.

Mark made a big fire to help warm up the cheering section but instead we all went inside mom's house and played games. The volley ball players left at dark but we didn't finish our game until just a bit ago.  Today was a funday Sunday.
