This was not good. Those fillies are not suppose to be on top of the bale.
They could get hurt getting down by catching a leg in the hog panel that was wrapped around the bale. I got them both off then went to feed and came back and they were both right back on.
Something had to be done so this time I was able to get behind the bale and tip it on it's side. Now there is no way for them to climb on top and best of all they won't be ruining the bale by manuring on it.We had more rain today but only 2 tenths of an inch. The problem is that the ground is saturated and the rain water is not soaking in or draining off. The weanlings do not like being in the mud.
This afternoon I needed to move 20 bales out of the indoor arena. I had ordered 24 extra bales and stacked them and only later noticed these bales had been put up wet and were molding. Mike took 4 out to Middle Grove not realizing they are not good. He dropped them off before he left for Gulf Shores and when he came back went to check on the horses and told me they hadn't touched those bales. Karin arrived after work just as I was finishing up. I thought she may need to train inside today because of rain but the weather changed, a cold front with wind but no rain and she was able to use the round pen. Below she is working with Tory.
Tory did very well today. She is learning to round down at the canter. Indy was brought out next. Karin has so much fun riding this mare.
Notice that smile!
This evening a very nice text came in from the man who bought Eli, Eliza's 2017 orphaned colt by Valiant. She died when this colt was just 2 weeks old and we were able to get Sally to adopt and nurse him. He is pictured below at 4 months of age.
Well you should see him NOW as a yearling. Our little Eli is not so little now.
His owner is very pleased and so are we. He IS another quality Horsemeister colt. We couldn't be more pleased with the foals our stallions and mares put out. They really turn out beautiful inside and out!
Tonight Mark just drove mom and me to church. Craig Stickling had the message. It was good to be there.
Absolutely stunning
