More Than 2 Inches

A thunderstorm moved in during the night, loud enough that Emma felt like she must come in our room to sleep by our bed. She was not coming in to protect us but to comfort herself. She doesn't like thunder. We had an inch of rain by morning with no sign of let up.  I needed to head to Sam's club this morning to buy the meat for Sunday dinner and Tuesday's lunch but the car was out of gas. Just 2 days ago my credit card was compromised and someone from Chicago tried to use it on all kinds of things. The credit card company let me know, cancelled the card and issued a new one but I don't have it yet. It is usually such a simple thing to get gas when one has a credit card but today getting gas was not simple as I also didn't have any cash. It took some time to get the money to fill the car.  I was meeting Stephanie at Sam's Club at 8:30 am. She was bringing cookies for the airbnb guest moving in this evening and I barely made it there on time. On the way home it was pouring rain so hard that everyone driving on the interstate needed to slow way down.
I stopped at Meisters to drop off the Bible studies from Tuesday for the Roanoke church. It was still raining hard and I was glad to see the office roof did not leak at all, not a drop. Phil and Luke put a rubber coating on that roof as the last rain storm we had water coming in.
Once home the cookies were placed in the apartment and the place given a check to make sure it was still clean for our guests. The next job was to strip the stalls and put new bedding in each one.  Sheena is back in a stall as it is just too muddy for her to stay outside with her leg wounds from the trailering accident.  By the time the rain stopped we had over 2 inches in our rain gauge. Karin arrived after work to help with India, Rosaleigh's filly by Evan. We took her first in a stall where Karin handled her all over picking up her hooves and working with leading. She was given grain inside which made her very happy.
Karin led her out to the round pen for a training session. She led quietly and respectfully.
Even though we had more than 2 inches of rain, the round pen was wet but usable.
This filly has such huge movement that it was easy to get pictures of her with all 4 hooves off the ground. She gets BIG AIR.

Her owner is going to be thrilled with her. She have Evan's huge movement and both Evan and Rosaleigh have that mega hair, big mane, thick long tails and heavy feathering.  She is another quality Horsemeister Friesian foal.
She was led back to the paddock and all the weanlings were fed again. Karin went in with a bucket of grain and both India and Isla (Madiera's filly) were eating out of the bucket Karin was holding. Hopefully tomorrow we can get new pictures of Isla for the website.  Karin only had time to work 2 mares today. We kind of dread the time change coming, it gets too dark too quickly to get a lot of training in outside.
Below she is working with Tory. Tory was round penned first then taken to the outdoor arena.
I was pleased to see the outdoor was also usable.

While Karin rode I pulled weeds. Always smart to do that after a rain. Funny how I won't garden because I hate pulling weeds but will weed the round pen and arena's. The last job of the evening was to run back up to the barn to fill Sheena's water bucket, throw her another flake of hay and clean up her stall again.
Another booking came in for the foaling apartment for next weekend. I'll have to order more cookies from Stephanie!
