Emily agreed to help with Zenia's video before our walk this morning. Zenia is out of Indy by Evan and her owner lives in California. She is going to be weaned next week and transported to her home soon so we wanted to show the owner just exactly what he bought.
I quit after one round of walk so I could drop of flyers at all the businesses around Hanna City before work. Well this evening we got word from Rhoda, Lila has been found, but it is not all good news. Even though Rhoda had the microchip registered in her name Tri-County Vet Clinic did not have the updated information and gave the lady that brought Lila in as a lost dog the information of Lila's original owner who happens to live in Chicago. Rhoda found that out Monday morning as soon as the vet clinics in the area opened that the original owner was contacted. She called him but only got an answering machine. Well today she finally was able to speak to him and Lila is back up in Chicago and the owner does not want to give her back. He feels Lila has been passed around enough that he should just keep her. I tried to call tonight and left a begging message but no call back. I'm going to call tomorrow and beg again.
We had a very busy but productive day at Berean. Only 1 mailbox of mail but it was stuffed full. Below are a few of our volunteers. Not all are pictured, we got so busy I forgot to take the camera out again.
We ran out of stamps as we only had about 200 left from last week but Jan was willing to drive in to the Peoria post office which took about 5 minutes but then she had to wait a half hour in line to buy 6 hundred stamps. Sadly even those 6 hundred weren't enough to finish the job today. We had them all entered by noon, broke for lunch then after lunch got them all stamped, separated and stuffed. I'm just so so thankful so many people are willing to help. We had 15 volunteers today and kept everyone busy. Tomorrow I'll have to go in and enter the letters.
The studies to be mailed back out were taken to the Hanna City post office around 1:30 but the office was locked. I didn't realize they close for lunch. The studies were stuffed in the inside mail box but that filled up so the rest were taken to the outside mail box and even that got filled up.
Anna dropped the girls off this evening. It was so pleasant outside we played at the playground then mom came out so we took a golf cart ride joining the evening walkers until the parents arrived to take their tired girls home. They will for sure be ready for bed tonight.
After they left we moved the whelping box back into the barn. We will no longer need this so I'll probably list it on Craiglists for sale for $50.00. It is 4ft by 6 ft made with heavy duty 2x10 boards and has the extra 2x4 ledge around the inside of the box for the safety of the pups.
