Emily and I had a busy morning. Right after the walk we teased and covered Marika with Valiant. Emily put the bale spear on the tractor so we could move the grass bale out of Raven's old paddock and put in a good alfalfa bale. Killian is now moved back into his paddock so we could move Emma, her colt and Eliza into there for graining. Those mares both need extra calories.
The water tanks were filled. Shannon brought Jewely-Et over to be bred to Evan.
As soon as Shannon was back on the road, Emily and I left for the Berean office to start processing the Bible letters. It goes much faster with 2 of us typing and by noon we had the last one entered. There were 276 requests so far this week. Not sure what tomorrow will bring as far as mail but praying we have a light mail day.
The next job on the list was the big grocery shopping for the upcoming vacation. We stopped at Aldi first then hit Sam's Club for the rest. We filled to overflowing 2 grocery carts. We had to plan food for 19 people for a week and where we are heading there are no big stores. I also needed to buy dog food and dog treats for the dog sitter Anni. She isn't going to be eating the dog food and dog treats but having them available will make it much easier for her to dog sit. We bought so much that we weren't sure exactly how we were going to get it all in the car but when there is a will there is a way.
The car was packed clear to the ceiling.
Unloading was a pain. Those 240 water bottles weigh a LOT, 30 pounds of chicken breasts, 8 pounds of hamburger, 12 pounds of prime rib eye steaks plus all the other goodies gave our muscles a work out. This afternoon Emily and Mike went to work on the new road at Middle Grove. That area had 4 inches of rain in a short amount of time which wiped out the road. I snapped a few shots of the mares in the pond pasture. The gray below is Whitney. Whitney was bred to Valiant and is due July 26th. She is not at all bagged up and is such a big mare now I'm starting to wonder if she is just fat instead of pregnant. She was confirmed in foal by ultrasound and both Emily and Karin think she is still pregnant.
She is grazing below next to Rosalie and to Rosalie's left is Oksana. These are the 3 musketeers.
Hadassah is also in with them but is the odd horse out. She is usually grazing near by but not yet accepted 100% by the other 3. Hadassah was bred to Evan and is due August 11th and her udder is starting to fill up. I'm praying both mares hold off until I get home from vacation.
Joan drove to Remington, Indiana last night making home at 3:00 am with a load of sweet corn. Diane, Rachel and Mom helped Joan all morning freeze corn. They froze around 65 quarts and will have delicious sweet corn all winter long. She shared a bunch with the family so tonight for dinner we had corn on the cob.
Diane drove to church tonight. She picked up mom, Ruth, Mark and I. Craig Stickling had the service. It was really good to be there. So so thankful for my church family. When we arrived home Rhoda and Lee were here cleaning the house. Have I ever said how much I love my daughters? They brought their dog Lila. Tomorrow I'll get some pictures of her. Lila is very cute and expecting puppies the end of August. She will be staying here for the next 10 days while Rhoda and Lee are vacationing with the rest of us Sceggels at Ken and Darlene Hoerr's lake house.
