We were done in plenty of time and were early for church. Tim Roecker had the morning service on Psalm 130 and Mark 2. Do we want something so much we would be willing to tear open a roof? This afternoon we were blessed to have Ken Hoerr back up on the pulpit. We are so thankful he is still willing to serve. Speaking of serving, that was actually what the sermon was about.
It was hot and muggy by the time we got home from church. Oksana, Rosalie and Whitney were taken out of the middle paddock, hosed off and put in the pond pasture. Whitney is due in exactly 2 weeks and even though her udder is still flat we just can't take a chance she would deliver in the mud. Mark and I took the golf cart over to Joan's for Bill and Bethany's baby shower. Emily came later on the 4 wheeler after she teased and had Ribbon covered by Valiant. Below are a few pictures of the fun filled baby shower. Joan served a delicious meal of pulled pork, rolls, chips and fresh fruit.
After we ate Rebekah had Bethany and Bill blind folded then gave them each a doll with a diaper and a onesie. The first one to get their doll diapered and clothed won.
Below are a few of the audience cheering them on.
Bethany won this game, it was actually no contest. That girl could diaper and clothe a hundred babies in the dark. In fact she probably has done that when in Haiti after the earthquake.
In the next game Rebekah asked for 4 volunteers. Each was given a balloon and asked to fill it then give it to the girl to her left. Once they all had a balloon the girls were asked to put it under their shirt or skirt, put on a pair of shoes and tie them without popping the balloon.
Hannah WON
Check out that balloon baby bump strut.
Jordan enjoyed the balloons.
The next two games were played while Bethany and Bill opened their gifts. We were each given 3 spoons and then 6 jars of baby food were passed around numbered 1 through 6. We were asked to smell and taste them then identify each one writing down our best guess. The second game 6 dirty diapers were passed around each with a melted candy bar inside. We were allowed to smell but not taste then write down what they were.
Once Bill and Bethany finished opening the gifts they were given the jars of baby food and the diapers. Interesting enough Bill didn't just take a delicate taste he would eat an entire spoon full of the disgusting stuff.
I think Bethany is going to have to lock up the baby food.
The winner of the baby food jar's was a tie, Rhonda and Tara where the only 2 that got them all right. There was only one winner of the dirty diaper game..Rachel won that hands down. She knows her chocolate. At the end of the shower Bill and Bethany revealed what they were expecting by sharing a big cookie.
Phil and Anna dropped off the girls for the evening while they worked on trying to get the 2 inches of water and mud out of their basement. Anna was pretty discouraged, it just hasn't stopped raining long enough to get a roof on their new addition and every time they come out they have to start with clean up all over again.
Your detailed recount of the day, from a delightful breakfast outing and the heartwarming baby shower, reflects a wonderful blend of joy, community, and gratitude. On a related note, if you're gearing up for more celebrations, there's an insightful article on when to send out baby shower invites, that could offer valuable insights.
