I didn't get to watch the race yesterday but got on the internet to watch it this morning. Anyone else miss it?
I admit to tearing up as AP pulled away. I wondered why I would tear up for a race but realized part of the emotion came from watching history, part from watching this powerful but fragile animal cruise along then kick it up at the end of this long endurance race, and part of it was watching greatness. The Belmont is the longest toughest race of the three, and as we know from the past this is usually where the hopefuls fail. Then yesterday the drought of the Triple Crown winner was over. It is worth a tear or two to watch such an amazing athlete. American Pharoah proved he deserved to win taking the lead at the start, keeping the lead then pulling away with style. What a race, What an ending. Congratulations to American Pharoah!
