Indian Camp + Crazy Cousin Camp

Today was the very last day of the 2015 Indian Camp. The Indians were sent out into the woods to find berries for breakfast and they came back with enough mulberries to make mulberry pancakes with a mulberry topping.  Mmmm Delicious!
Below are the Indians with their teepee. We had more rain last night and it STILL didn't leak. These Indians should be proud of their teepee building skills.
They were visited last night by the campers staying on the same compound, only these campers are called the CrazyCousinCampers. These campers had a tent set up in Rhonda's basement as they are in Eden's words, "we are city girls, not the outdoor type." The 2 camps had to pose for a picture. Some are expected to build their own shelter and find their own food while the others were to make a fashion statement, although I'm not exactly sure what this fashion would be called.
After the delicious breakfast the campers made their way to the cabin to await their next activity.
This was a scary ride through the woods to the Indian sacred burial grounds. Below they are heading down to the trails. The Indian ponies used were Sally, Missy, Cookie and Bunni.
Below Sally is carrying Mackenson, Karin and Berlica. They had to stay with Karin as there was a bounty out for these 2. Don't know what they did but it must have been something either pretty bad or pretty good to have the bad guys hunting for them. Thankfully Sally kept them all safe. She is fast and can outrun any of the bad guy's horses.
Faith and Cookie were a good match together, they are both kind of blonde. Although the other tribes in the area prize blond hair so Faith had to watch out for her scalp. Thankfully Cookie is small and smart and learned how to hide quietly in the woods to keep her rider safe.
Ava and Berlica were another good match. Bunni is a kicker so Ava offered to go last and if any of the bad guys came sneaking up Bunni would kick them giving the others time to get away.
Aubrey was riding Missy most of the time although just after the entered the deep dark scary woods and were going down a steep hill she forgot to hang on and slid right off Missy. She remembered to hang on tight when she was put back up on Missy.
After the riders made it safely home the horses were put away. Joan took the campers to go swimming and Karin came over here to work a few horses. Below is Oksana. She was born June 16th, 2012 so in 3 days she will be 3 years old. Isn't she lovely?

Piper is pictured below. She is suppose to leave next week for her new home in Washington State. Karin wanted to see if she remembered her training and was very pleased with her.
This huge mare is in foal by Valiant due April 2016. Her new owner is going to be thrilled with this 2/1 package deal. Piper actually has a wonderful canter to ride. Most people think Friesians are bumpy and hard at the canter. Both Rhoda and Emily love this mare's canter. She is smooth and balanced.
Below are a couple pictures of Rosalie. Karin was most impressed with her. Each day she remembers and builds on the next lessons. So far she has only progressed, no backward steps at all for this 2 year old.

Jury was the last horse Karin worked today. When the sun came out the heat was almost unbearable.

Just as Karin was finishing up Jury, Mark called. He had his van stuck at Phil and Anna's yellow house. He needed a ride home so he could bring the tractor back to pull his van out of the mud. Karin and Emily went to rescue him while I met with Shannon. Shannon brought her mare Jewely-ett over to meet Evan today. She was in and showed so Emily brought Evan over to meet her.
This should be one beautiful foal! Shannon is hoping for a beautiful painted filly in 2016. Jewely-ett was loaded right back up after the breeding and taken home. Shannon will bring her back on Monday for another date. Speaking of beautiful painted fillies, check out the paint job on Cookie today.
Rhonda brought over the CrazyCousinCampers for their turn at painting and riding the ponies.

More pictures were taken of this crazy group and placed on the Horsemeister Facebook page. I had one problem Thursday, Friday and this morning. My pitchfork was no where to be found. Mark was the first suspect but he said he did not use it. Finally I asked Karin if she would ask the vaulting moms as it disappeared after the Wednesday Vaulting practice. Sure enough one of the mom's knew exactly where it was, they told Karin to look on top of the bales. It was all the way up near the barn roof on the highest bale sticking straight up. I would not have thought to look there. Emily was kind enough to climb up to get it down. The pitch fork is used every feeding to pull hay off the round bale. I think it will have to be hidden before the next Wednesday practice.
Joan and Faith came over with a bucket load of baby blue gills for Mark's pond. The siphon wasn't working on the big lake and when the grill was taken off the blue gills were being sucked right out of the lake into the creek. Joan and Faith rescued and gave us a bunch. Mark remarked that Joan and Faith are striking reminders of the Hymn, Make Me a Blessing.
I'm heading out now to bring Marika inside. We have storms predicted again tonight.
