Ruth was running late so didn't come to the walk. Diane, Joan and I did. Diane had to ask to borrow an umbrella from Joan and she didn't realize it was raining when she came out. I went straight to mom's right after the walk as it was my turn. The rain just kept coming. The cardinal below was standing under a chair on the deck to get away from the rain.
I noticed a red bellied wood pecker drinking out of the orange we use to put the grape jelly in for the Baltimore oriel.
The oranges were refilled as was the bird feeder and even though it was raining we had birds coming to feed.
At 10:00 am the Co-op picnic was supposed to start and at 10:00 am the rain stopped. The picnic was VERY well attended.
Mom and Rita enjoyed watching all the fun from the deck.
Rebekah came in with Walter to say hello to grandma and also brought a couple gallons of fresh milk.
At 2:30 Sarah dropped off the girls and headed over to help Anna clean mom's house. We saw Mike working with Dancer so decided to go on the trails with them.
We went on the trails behind the barns.
The picnic was supposed to end at 4:00 pm and my kids were all going to grandma's at 4:00 pm to clean out her garage and do a deep cleaning on her house for the annual work day we do the day before Mother's day. My kids had to come today because they can't come tomorrow.
The guys worked outside and the girls worked inside. Brian and Rebekah also helped today as they also can't help on Saturday. This is their Mother's Day gift to grandma 2 days early.
I took the younger grand kids on a nice long golf cart ride to keep them busy while their parent's worked. This new golf cart has seat belts.
Grandpa had plenty of help planting the flowers.
At 5:00 pm we went to our house so I could start cooking the supper for all the workers. Mark grilled steaks while I made the sweet potatoes, cheesy broccoli, salad, and rolls. By 6:00 pm everyone was very hungry. Thankfully there was plenty for everyone. Rhoda brought a beautiful Mother's Day cake for all of us mothers.
After dinner and dessert the kids went to the barn to play while we visited. Zeke was so funny, he picked up my cane and tried to walk just like me.
He was such a funny boy tonight.
Mom's new wheel chair van was shipped up from Florida and arrived tonight. The transport trailer was so long we decided to have him follow Joan to Ruth and Fedi's house to unload. Below the transporter is driving it off the trailer.
We didn't have time to call Ruth and Fedi and by this time it was well after their bedtime. Fedi who was awakened by the commotion came out with 3 huge German Shepherd dogs AND his gun.
The driver didn't want to get out of the van. What a long day!
