Annual Work Day for Mother's Day

I needed to be at mom's by 8:00 am and met Ruth there right at that time. She was in charge of the work day today and was here to get everything organized before the rest arrived. We had 32 really good workers arrive today and with the 24 that came yesterday we got way more done than was on the list. It really was a good effort by all.  Last night AFTER 10:00 pm someone took out our mail boxes. Mark took the picture below.

Spark went to the hardware store to buy a good size post and material to build another platform. Mark took his post hole digger down and started on digging. The mail boxes were smashed and all a total loss. The mail was soaking wet and scattered all over the hillside.
As it wasn't discovered until later this morning that was just one more job to add to our list.  Joan wanted the big limb cut down that was hanging over mom's drive. That limb was between the Japanese maple and the lilac bush. David and his helper (Ruth's boy) put a rope on it way up, then David used the chain saw while his helper pulled on the rope and it fell in the perfect position.
The guys ran the chain saws while the women and children hauled away the logs. Below is a picture after it was all cleaned up.
Rhonda and Rachel planted the flowers, Fedi used the pressure washer, Sarah and Faith got up on the roof, cleaned off the roof and the gutters while they were up there.  Joan had lots of help with weeding, and kept them all busy hauling sticks and logs.  Mike used his diesel tractor to take down some branches. The cement blocks going to the beach and around the beach got cleaned off and glued back down. I'm sure I missing lots of jobs but check out the video below. That caught some of them.
If you would like to see more pictures from today click HERE. A lot of the logs were stacked at the campfire place.
Diane picked up 8 or 9 pizza's from the Caseys in Glasford and at noon we quit for lunch. When Karin got home at 2:00 pm I went straight to the 5th wheel to collect the bedding then to the apartment to grab the bedding from there and start a load of laundry. The towels were all taken down to the house to wash. Once the machines were going I went back up to clean up the 5th wheel and since we have extra sets of sheets was also able to make the beds in the apartment. Anna arrived as the last load was drying. She left Braelyn there to clean but took Kensley home then had to go pick up Taegan. Rosaleigh was teased and covered by Evan then put in the pasture to graze. Ruth and Fedi brought their camper over as Steven will be staying a week in that to take care of a dog. Rhonda sent a message that Spark found mailboxes to put up and will let us know how much they cost once the job is done. I am so thankful to have that handled and will get a picture of our new mail boxes tomorrow. It is already after 8:00 pm now. I made chicken salad for dinner then sat down at the computer to write about the day. We are both exhausted!  That was two workdays in a row for us and at our age will need at least a week to re-cooperate. Well maybe one good night's sleep.
