Shopping Day

Today was shopping day. First was the trip to Aldi in Pekin and from there the Dollar General just down the road from Aldi. I stopped at Dollar General to look for some cookie boxes but didn't find any. Instead they had all of their winter hats and gloves half price so I bought 3 hats and 3 pairs of gloves. The next store was Kroger to pick up the vegetables needed for another batch of soup. The next stop was to Sam's club for chips, croissants and chicken salad for the shower on Sunday. The last store was to our Hanna  City Dollar General to pick up a small container of Folgers coffee for the apartment. Anna noticed that was missing. The day was spent driving and shopping. After supper Gerty and Dennis came over. Mark helped them with their taxes. I stayed and visited for a bit then headed over to mom's for the evening to play games. Tomorrow Valiant will need another bale. The skid steer hasn't come back yet so Mark will need to help me move it with the tractor. A very nice 5 star review came in from our Airbnb guests:  “Wow absolutely blown away! This was our first Air BNB experience and we couldn’t have asked for more. For a price LOWER than local hotels you get a fully stocked apartment, we had an incredible experience. Upon check in we were treated with amazing fresh baked chocolate chip cookies! The place was spotless and cozy. It had everything we needed and more, including water bottles in the fridge, I mean it had everything down to the forks! Judy and her sisters welcome you with open arms! There was a golf cart and homemade soup, a playground for the kids and more but I think our favorite part was being so close to the horses! The view out the kitchen window was of a very pregnant beautiful mare named Galena(I think!). We were able to interact with a lot of the horses and it was so much fun. We could not recommend this place more! Stay here seriously! You won’t regret it and you might end up like us looking for an excuse to come back soon!”   I'm very thankful for the reviews, those reviews bring in more guests and that pays the taxes around here.  The video below is of Zalena giving birth to her colt in 2014.

Zalena is technically due March 11th but is waxing quite heavily so her owner has her on the monitor and has been checking on her often during the night. We are praying for a easy delivery for this 21 year old mare and a healthy foal. Zalena is such a beautiful mare and had been one of our special performance mares. Below is Rebekah riding Zalena as the blue fairy during the performance of Sleeping Beauty.
The sire of this foal is Evan.
