After the walk this morning the first job was to check Galena's udder, there was no change and it looked a bit smaller than yesterday. Joan pointed out a halter in the breeding shed paddock while we were walking so that was recovered as well. I left for the Peoria post office around 9:00 am to pick up the Berean mail. The next job was to drive over to Diane's office to reconcile the Horsemeister check book and because I didn't do it earlier there were two months to reconcile. As it has been winter we didn't have a lot of action on that account so it didn't take too long. When I got back home, Oksana was teased and showed but Evan would not breed her so either it is a transitional heat or she really isn't in. They were finally just put together in the field and watched. After a couple hours they were grazing together so were put together in Evan's paddock.

Galena's Big Baby Bump
If you would like to see the rest of the pictures of Evan showing off today click HERE. I have been watching them off and all on day and they are both eating out of the hay feeder with no squabbles so Oksana will be left in with him. Galena was brought out and given a good groom. Her udder is starting to fill but delivery is still a ways off. Her tail and mane were brushed out today. Her tail is unbelievably thick and long.
Her forelock is also very thick and long. The wind or fairies had knotted up her mane and I ended up having to cut a lot out of it but if her mane would be braided and kept wrapped it would probably grow almost as thick and long as her tail.
Below is her baby bump.
She is so wide that it makes her look short but believe me this mare stands a solid 16.2 hands tall.
If you would like to see the rest of the pictures of Galena taken today click HERE. We were having a beautiful 70 degree sunny day with a south breeze making all outdoor chores enjoyable. At 2:00 pm I finally came in for lunch. Mark came home around 2:30 and went to work cleaning up the wood from the tree he took down on Saturday. After lunch I sat out on the patio in the sun thinking to just rest a bit while watching Evan and Oksana but fell asleep and slept for at least a half hour as when I awoke the patio was completely shaded by the big pine tree. I was supposed to bake something for Berean but decided to just leave a little early and pick up something at Sam's Club tomorrow morning. Sam is a much better baker than I am.
