Ardie Herrmann

The wind and rain slamming into the house last night and this morning was making so much noise that we were up by 4:30 am. Obviously the walk was cancelled. Mom had an eye doctor appointment and was picked up at 8:45 am.  I was not allowed to go in with her so dropped her off at the door of the IL Eye Center, parked then listened to Jeff Neihouser on AC Central. When she finished she remarked , "I  forgot my hearing aids at home but I'm not the only one that had trouble hearing, there were others even older than me. One was 26 and another 29."  I started laughing pretty hard when mom realized she forgotten to mention the born in part. Evidently they always ask the birthdate.  We stopped at the bank next so she could transfer some money and deposit some checks. After she was dropped off I drove to Sarah and Nolan's to drop off the vacation supplies. It was still raining hard and the wind was about blowing my little Prius off the road with each gust. The wind and rain lasted until 4:00 pm. After a supper of stir fry over rice Mark and I went out to move bales. The middle paddock got two bales, and the paddock next to Valiant's got a bale. Galena was checked and moved into that paddock. She has a little discharge but it did not look like pus. I'll have to check it in the morning. Oksana and Mika were moved into Ribbon's old paddock while Cookie, Missy and Sally were left in the middle paddock. The weanlings were moved into the far paddock and the fence there fixed.  Tomorrow a new bale will be moved in for them. I leave for Gulf Shores early Saturday morning and wanted to make sure all the horses have plenty of hay. Mark will need to move a new bale in for Valiant next weekend.  We got the news today that Ardie Herrmann has finally made it HOME. 2 days ago we got the news that she was admitted to the hospital with chest pains. They found that she had a major aortic tear and the doctors didn't feel she would be able to survive the surgery needed to repair it. Their goal was to just make her comfortable. Faith, one of her daughters posted this below: "The move to Route 91 (OSF hospice) got her real tired yesterday. Wednesday early evening, she saw Helen (Ardie's mom), Harold (Ardie's husband)"handsome," brothers Dale (Hunziker) and Al(Hunziker), angels "lots," Jesus "gorgeous, smiling, standing," and a pretty river. She wants to go home but said "I don't know how." We've said our goodbyes many times. She's speaking way less and is harder to understand. I'm here with her again tonight. Got a breathing treatment to help her breathe. Vitals are good. She barely talks. Said goodbye to Aunt Mardy (Ardie's sister). Says she can't breathe. We are trying to help her be more comfortable. She just wants to Go Home." Ardie was one of my favorite church ladies. She spent years with me at choir and we loved visiting together. We will miss her and I know her children will miss her terribly . Joan said it best: "What a testimony of faith for an encouragement to us all. Ardie is just moments away from being in the presence of our Lord Jesus along with the host of others who have gone on before. Can you imagine this?!! What a day this is for her as she nears the Gates of Glory and God is giving her glimpses of what is to come, (probably for our sakes)! I pray she will walk peacefully through those gates soon. Prayers for you all as you let her go."
