Shrimp Festival

Amy and I spent most of the morning at the pool floating on rafts and reading books. It was just so hot on the beach. Taunya, Rhoda, and Sarah took Iris, Zion and Eden on a long walk this morning to the pier.

When they got back Anna, Rhoda and Iris joined us at the pool. Iris was learning to blow bubbles, or at least she was trying to imitate Rhoda and laughing each time she put her face in the water.

Taunya, Abe, Sarah, Zion and Eden went shopping.
Rhoda, Anna and I hiked to Bahama Bob's for lunch.  This afternoon Amy and I walked over to Taunya's condo. Abe had fallen asleep on Anna's lap while waiting for us to get ready to head to the Shrimp festival.
The Shrimp Festival is a huge deal here in Gulf Shores. Around 250,000 people come streaming in to this little town from all over the country. They have lots of food tents selling about any kind of food one can imagine, even grilled lobster tails on a stick. There were hundreds of booths of arts and crafts and hundreds of people walking around shopping or eating or dancing to the bands. They have 2 stages set up one on the East side of the park and one at the West side and both stages had bands playing all day long. This festival goes on for 4 full days.
We stopped at a Trane booth and had Anna pose next to the air conditioner.. See this trip isn't just about fun. It is so hot down here that Gulf Shores needs a train dealer, it isn't easy to stop a Trane!

Iris got tired of riding in the stroller and decided to push Abe around.
We bought all kinds of different foods then stopped at the park where one of the bands were playing to eat. Check out Zion's face. She sure enjoyed her dinner.
 Abe also enjoyed the food.
Iris is eating part of an onion blossom. We were all shocked when she was stuffing onion in as fast as possible.
We had a good time but the constant noise was tiring for our ears. Anna brought a new Francine Rivers book called "The Masterpiece" from home and finished it yesterday. This morning she gave it to me and I was glad to go back to a quiet condo to finish reading it.
