Mountains of Sand

We had an amazing day at Berean but no pictures. I forgot the camera, left it at the Berean office. We were not expecting a lot of help as today was also TAG day for Peoria but the volunteers just kept arriving until both rooms were full! A BIG BIG thank you. I had to leave early to meet Karin at Middle Grove so Marie was left in charge and take charge she did. She makes a great boss, explaining each step then staying late to lock up.
We almost had a bad accident today. The new truck has a back up camera making it a breeze to hook up a trailer without help but what I didn't know was the ball had been changed from the big ball to the 2 inch ball. (more on that later) The hitch was easily centered right over the ball from the drivers seat of the truck then when I got out it just needed to be lowered and locked. Jewel and her colt were ready to be loaded when the truck arrived with sand ordered for the new round pen. This was the second load, Joan met the driver for the first load. Jewel's colt saw that big truck and instead of following his mom into the trailer took off running to see what the truck was bringing. Jewel had to be backed back out until the colt found his mom. I had to stand and watch in amazement at his movement. I've never seen a foal with such big movement. He will surely be a super star in the dressage world. I hope who ever buys him will take him to inspections and shows, he will blow the judges right out of their chairs.
He finally did jump in the trailer and even with stopping to fill up the truck I was only 10 minutes late meeting Karin. We unloaded Jewel and her colt, stepped Ribbon into the trailer and the trailer did a wheely! The coupler slipped right off that small 2 inch ball and into the air the trailer rose then when Ribbon stepped forward bam right into the ground. Ribbon was unloaded the truck backed up until the chains could be removed then Karin brought Ribbon over had her put her 2 front feet into the trailer to hold it up while I backed the truck up and hooked it back up this time with the correct sized ball. So so thankful I didn't lose the trailer with Jewel and her colt inside on the way out to Middle Grove. We took Karin's car to the herd and brought back Oksana and Jenis. Oksana will be going to a boarding barn in Carlock with Rhoda for training while Jenis and Ribbon will be here for the jousting practice then Jousting show in October.
They were unloaded then I ran to Gertie's house to pick up Kensley who will be staying the night with us. Phil, Anna and the girls are going to St. Louis for a couple days.
Kensley and I went to look at the new sand as soon as we got back.

By the looks of these piles I over ordered. There should be enough to put a layer on the outdoor arena when we are done with the round pen. Now we just need the skid steer back to start leveling it.
Dr. Hoerr was suppose to come tomorrow for ultrasounds but his office called to see if we could reschedule that for Thursday afternoon.
