Slip Sliding and Down

The girls didn't get the boys out to ride until after 4:30 pm and by the time they were heading out to the field it was already getting dark. Rhoda decided to ride Valiant today and he was VERY fresh. He hasn't been ridden in a while and today was the first time he was let out of his paddock. He had a tough time keeping all 4 feet on the ground. When Rhoda asked him to canter he just couldn't help himself and started bouncing.
The next thing that happened was he started sliding and right about then Rhoda knew wasn't good.
Rhoda plowed some snow on that one.

She quick checked him out and all was fine. She asked him to sit so she could mount up.

It was a good thing the snow was deep and fluffy.
About this time Emily brought Killian out. He has been ridden for the last few days but he was pretty fresh also.
These 2 boys were asked to ride together for the first time ever and even though Valiant was curious as to who Killian was he was very well behaved for Rhoda.

It was really too dark by this time but they posed together for one last picture.
Mark came home late but that ended up being a good thing. The turkey I started roasting today took longer than expected to get done. Our dinner wasn't served until 7:00pm and now I have to start de-boning the rest of the turkey and get the carcass ready for soup.
