Stone Soup
Tonight is a stone soup night. Remember the story of the poor family that had nothing to eat? A friend came over and showed them how to make a big pot of delicious soup out of a stone. The little girl was told to find a nice smooth round stone and wash it well, put it in a large pot of water and start cooking. Then what else is in the house? An onion? throw it in the pot, a couple of carrots? chop them up and throw them in the pot. The family kept finding good things to add to the pot and by the time the soup was done it was delicious and to think it was just made with a stone! I always liked that story so That's what dinner was like today in our house minus the stone. The left over chicken carcass from Sunday was thrown in the pot along with a chopped onion and diced carrots, then as I didn't have any wild rice, noodles were added. As there was no celery in the house but plenty of left over stuffing from Sunday and that has celery in it, into the pot. By the time the kitchen was gone through thoroughly the soup looked and tasted pretty good. Hope Mark likes it sometimes he finds my creations kind of weird.
