After the walk today it was work time at home. The paddock was cleaned here at Bridlewood before lunch. Mark came home for a taco salad and while we were cleaning up lunch Steven called with a scary problem.
When Steven drove up today around noon he saw Izadora's colt stuck under a shelter. After trying to help the boy pull his hips out and realizing there is no way they are going to fit it was time to call for help. At least the colt was lying very quietly and just waiting for help. These Raven foals are so sensible!
After studying the situation we decided Steven will lay the boy down and I'll pull from the back side.
This worked like a charm, as soon as he realized he was free he jumped up and ran to his mom for some comfort food.
Thank goodness he was fine. Steven started the skid steer and cleaned out the other shelter in the middle paddock for the next hay bale. The horses were all very curious as to what the machine was doing.
Once the paddock and shelter were clean it was time to move in the round bale and the feeder. We attached this one about like the other feeder. We had 3 horses trying to help the entire time putting this one up.
Izadora's family decided to finish up the other hay bale and the little one decided now that the show was over it was nap time.
I'm thrilled with how good the paddocks are being kept, the feeders are saving a lot of wasted hay AND clean up.
