April Fools Day

This morning there is no internet and the extra time spent trying to get it working almost made me late for our walk. Once at the farm and out of the car the noise level is amazing for a place in the country. The peepers were peeping, the geese were honking, the woodpeckers were knocking, the morning doves were cooing and the song birds were all singing. What a GLORIOUS Morning! Mike needed helping moving in 5 round bales. He got the first bale in and as he was pulling the spear out it broke. Good thing the new one that was ordered came in so off he drove the skid steer over to his house to attach the new spear. Once back the other 4 bales were easy to move. The new spear is rated for 2500 pounds where the old spear was only rated for 1500 pounds. These new bales are BIG! The back gate of Lily and Paris' paddock was open this morning which Lily and her filly took advantage of to go in with the big group then Ribbon plus Duke & Knight were in with Paris. As all the horses are getting along great in the group we left it open.
We will need to move the yearlings out of their paddock soon to get it ready for the booked outside mares. Moving Valiant and Evan out to the Middle Grove farm is a little risky, so much money tied up in the 2 of them that we either keep them at the Hanna City farm or purchase insurance on them and let them go out with the rest. It is so good for the yearlings to have the80 acres to roam and creeks to play in that it is probably worth the insurance cost.
Most of the new gravel is now on the main drives, the farm still has none but it is promised.
Mom played the first of the many April fools joke today. She stops us during the walk and asks as she is pointing into the woods, "isn't that a deer?" Of course both Diane and I fall for it.
At work today 80 boxes of large print Bibles each weighing 32 pounds were sent out to different chaplains that requested them. Each box holds 12 Bibles and needs to be stuffed with 12 lesson number ones of our basic study, 12 letters explaining the study and 12 business reply envelopes so the prisoner can mail the first lesson back for free and get the next 3 lessons. That was 960 Bibles in ONE day by myself.
Then it was down to TSC for 4 salt blocks each weighing 50 pounds and 2 bags of grain again each weighing 50 pounds. Load those in the back of the car then finally to Aldi for groceries. EXCEPT once there the place is packed. OH NO it is the first of the month, the food stamp cards must have all been refilled and everyone in the line ahead of me seemed to be determined to spend it all by stocking up on supplies.
