Move In Day

Rhoda's 2 packages came right at 9:30am, our Horsemeister T shirts and her red cape so once everything was loaded we headed to the farm to start loading horses. Steven Marchal was already there, had the trailer hooked up, 11 bales of hay loaded into the truck along with the wheel barrow and the pedestal plus 3 of the foals in the trailer. It was really getting muddy by the time we finished loading and of course one of the trailer tires on the stock trailer was low so the first thing we had to do was get to a gas station and fill the tire. Rhoda went in and the check out lady stopped her and asked "is that the Horsemeister Friesians?" Rhoda told her we are heading down to Springfield for the fair and she told Rhoda well she will just have to go to see them.
Steven's truck is awesome, he crammed 6 horses in a 4 horse trailer along with the weight of the 9 bags of bedding and 11 bales of hay and had no problems, he said it hauled great. Even though we have a 2 horse trailer, Ribbon was the only one we fit in it for this trip. So we hauled 7 horses down in 2 trailers.
Once we drove up it took about an hour to unload all the stuff we brought down. The horses all stood quietly in the trailers until we were ready for them. It is so nice being down a day early, no competition for the wash racks, we parked right next to the door for unloaded and no one asked us to move.
Steven and Rhoda started washing horses while I filled water buckets and started the decoration. By 4:30 we were wet, cold, tired and hungry so headed over to steak and shake for a very late lunch. One of the funny things that happened at dinner was we were all pretty filthy and didn't know if we should go to a sit down restaurant, then as we walked in a man more filthy than we were was walking out, Rhoda said that made her feel like we fit just fine. As Steven will be staying in the trailer for the next 3 days, he mentioned that he is trailer trash and would fit right in. Karin called us at 5:00pm she wondered where we were so we finished up and headed back to the fair with the truck heat on HIGH.
Once back Rhoda and Monica tacked up the 2 mares and started warming up in the arena. I rolled the pedestal in and Steven brought in the foals and the fun began. Karin had Ribbon in the coliseum for the vaulting warm up.
I got to sit in the audience and watch the vaulting practice with Tommie Turvey. He was very sweet with the little kids. He asked them if they would throw out free T-shirts during the show on Friday and Saturday, then at the end they must run back in for the grand finale. The show is going to be awesome and the vaulters are so lucky to be picked as the local talent. We are finally at the hotel and I'm ready to crash once I get my shower. Tomorrow we will finish decorating the stalls and start putting out the freebies.
