Just a dusting of snow last night and the temps were in the 20s making it feel like a heat wave. Our tracks were needed this morning, so much ice under the snow. We all met at the dumpster and started the walk heading to Rachel's house but when we got to the shed with the mom's Kubota Joan stopped, started that and quit the walk right then and there to go plow her drive. Diane, Ruth and I went into mom's to visit. Today is Ruth's birthday so Ruth insisted mom sing happy birthday to her. Mom was laughing too much to sing it by herself so we joined in. Tomorrow is Ruth's last day of work.

Round 2
She will officially retire and we are happy about that. Today though she had to leave right after the birthday song for her second to the last day of work. Yesterday after Bible study mom and Joan stopped at JoAnn fabrics to pick out and buy more flannel for baby blankets. Mom now has 5 more expected great grandchildren. Three are confirmed boys, 1 is a girl, the last is not yet known. There are 3 boy baby blankets already made but none for a baby girl so they found some really cute girl patterns. Karin is now making them and does a wonderful job. She has learned to crochet just for this project. A little history about the blankets. Karin was the first baby to ever receive one of these. Mom liked it so well she started making them for all of her grand children then expanded that to all of the babies born in the Peoria church. We are pretty thrilled Karin has started making them. It was my turn to stay with mom today. We checked on the Big Bear Eagle Camera and saw both Jackie and Shadow in the nest. When Shadow left Jackie settled down. We thought she may be getting ready to lay and egg but that didn't happen. Hopefully that will happen soon. The snow and ice have done a number on mom's gutters. The gutter on the North side of the house has been pushed off and down.
The South side gutter has lost it's screen. The ice has broken it, pushed part of it off of the gutter and it is sticking straight out.
There is a red bellied woodpecker eating at the bird feeder.
The gutters will need to be fixed but it is much to icy and cold to be up on a roof right now.
The sunshine and warmer temperatures was causing the snow and ice to come crashing off every side of our house. It starts as a rumble and when it hits the ground the sound is a loud crash. Below Mark is trying to get the patio shoveled again but it is very heavy.
It is currently snowing and is 18 degrees. Round 2 has just started. The snow is suppose to continue until 1:00 am with dropping temperatures. By the time we wake up it will be single digits and continue dropping until it is below zero again. The extreme cold will last until Sunday before we see the 20s again and Monday is predicted to go above freezing. We just have to get through Sunday! Rachel and David made it home from Gulf Shores, they had a nightmare trip as they had to drive on snow covered roads in Mississippi Diane and Mike are leaving tomorrow for Gulf Shores so hopefully the roads will be clear by the time they get to them.
A beautiful picture came in of Dollar, Irish x Valiant born in 2022. Below he is with his new owner.
He will be 2 years old this year and is going to be huge. We sure hope Irish has a filly this year.
