I drove up to the barn just as the day started to lighten to check on Rosalie. No foal and her udder hadn't changed. She was taken back outside and the arena cleaned up. On our walk today Joan informed us that she needed to sing at the funeral today so I took her place at mom's house. While there I noticed a black and white duck pair swimming and diving so tried to take a picture of them to show mom.
They were just too far away and zooming in did not help. Mom told me they are known as diving ducks. That make sense. We had an uneventful day. Karin arrived at 2:00 pm and as soon as I left there I drove straight down to the Peoria post office to pick up the Berean mail and then to the Berean office to drop that off. The post office was crowded at that time and I needed to wait in line then the traffic was bad so it was close to 3:30 pm by the time I made it home. Mark beat me home. I reminded him that we needed to move a new bale in for Valiant and put up two boards on Evan's paddock. We moved the bale first. Just as Mark was bringing the bale Amy arrived and she was more than willing to help with that.
Mark left to get some tools for the boards. Amy and I walked over to Rosalie to check her udder.
There was no change from yesterday. Amy actually came to show mom and Aunt Jinnie the baby blanket she was making and to ask their help on the last part. She finished it while there and showed me before Mark came back with the tools.
The baby blankets are wonderful gifts for new parents. Mom has made them for at least 3 generations ( ours and our children and now our grandchildren. Now that she doesn't have the use of her left hand and can't make anymore it is nice to see someone is carrying on the tradition of these blankets. They are made of 2.5 yards of soft flannel folded in half then are crochet around the entire perimeter. They are warm and big enough to use for a newborn all the way to toddlers. Amy left for home when Mark drove up with the tools needed to fix Evan's paddock. This was an easy fix, there were no broken boards, just two boards down. Below Mark is removing the old screws.
After he was done we looked at that fence and both broke out laughing. It was not at all level and really looks funny but will be secure enough to keep Evan in so we won't take it down and redo it. It will give us something to laugh about each time we drive by.
