Aunt Jinnie Leaves

We cancelled the walk this morning, Joan was up at the hospital until around 3:00 am then Diane took her place. That gave me time to put Rosalie out, clean up the arena and clean out the water tank.

Enough fresh water was put in for tonight. Rosalie's udder is not as full this morning so she was left outside all day.  I left for Sam's club to pick up another bag of cat food and found Sam's was selling cold packages of 4 huge chicken breast of the rotisserie chickens they sell for $3.95. Evidently they didn't sell all they cooked yesterday. I bought some then picked up a few vegetables and once home made 2.5 gallons of creamy chicken and wild rice soup.
That was put in quarts and once cool put in the freezer.  I'm not sure when I will be able to get the hip replaced and want some easy meals to serve after surgery. Tomorrow if all goes well I have enough left over pot roast that can make some beef and vegetable soup. Rachel was with mom today and when I went over to pick up Aunt Jinnie to take her to the airport Rachel insisted on carrying Aunt Jinnie's suitcase out to the car.  We will really miss her but she is planning on being back in August. Today is Faith's 16th birthday so Joan took her to the DMV. Faith passed the driving test and now is a lawful car driver with her own car.  We left for church a little early as Mark had to pick up the box of old thermostats. Tim Roecker had the message. After church we drove to Culvers. Joan brought a large birthday cookie and the group there sang to Faith and had her blow out the candles.
We left there around 9:00 pm and drove home very slowly in thick fog.
When we arrived home I had Mark just leave the car in the driveway, ran in to change then opened the door to drive up to the barn to bring Rosalie in and just then the rain came pouring down.  IF we had left a littler earlier OR been able to drive the speed limit I wouldn't be soaked right now. Rosalie was not up in the paddock. Thankfully when I called her name she came up to the gate and stood quietly while her halter was put on. She was intrigued by the flashlight. Her udder was checked, her halter removed while she was nosing the light which was on the ground. It is supposed to rain most of the night and we can hear the grumbling of thunder in the distance.  I really don't expect her to deliver tonight but it sure isn't worth taking a chance. There wasn't any new news on Rhonda other than she slept well for about 5 hours during the night. The nurses on the floor she is on have decided that they would prefer no one to spend the night tonight so Joan does not have to go up tonight.
