Splitting Logs

Right after breakfast I went to work on the apartment while Mark worked on taking the battery out of the 2015 truck. His job was so much harder than mine. In fact I had to help him. Who ever designed that must have thought the batteries would live as long as the truck does.  Today was the Heart of IL Pony Club Show held at Gitza's barn. Amy took her beautiful Andalusian mare Belle and competed in the dressage part, doing training 1 and training 4.  I was glad someone took the picture below.
Karin and Kayla arrived at 9:00 just as I was finishing up. Today they started with Valiant.

He was very relaxed today and kept sticking his tongue out. We just had to laugh but it is nice to see Valiant relaxed and obedient. Valiant pretty much always wants to please.

Karin rode him first then Kayla finished up with him.

Valiant was put away and Evan brought out.  They did not ride Evan today just worked with him in the round pen.  He too was very relaxed.
He laid down, had a good roll then got up and let out a big yawn.

Of course he was still made to work a bit.

Both stallions did very well.  On the way back to the house this dragonfly was on the driveway.
The face on this bug was really weird looking.
Abby had lost her halter again. She knows how to get them off but she came right up to me and stood quietly while I put another on her.  These halters are cheap and break easily but that is what we want. Today she was taken into the indoor arena for her grain. She thought that place was very scary but settled right down to eat her grain.
Cinnamon was also taken inside. It took her longer to settle down but once she realized nothing was going to jump out at her and grain was in the bucket she also started eating and forgot that the place was frightening.
After lunch Mark brought the log splitter down to work on that big limb.
Karin saw me laboring away and stopped over to help. We got about a third of the logs split. before quitting.
Mark put the log splitter away and got out the mower and got all the yards around here mowed. I went over to visit with mom. She was busy snapping green beans so of course I joined her.
One doesn't just snap them, it is such mindless work that we could have a nice visit while doing it together. We took them over to Joan's once they were done, Joan was busy mowing so we didn't stay long.  This evening Mark and I watched the movie Lincoln by Steven Spielburg. It was very interesting.
