First Place Picture

Mom shared this morning that LuEllen Schafer won FIRST Place on the picture she took of Galena and her filly for the Farm Bureau contest.  She came April 26th to take pictures of the foals but they wouldn't co-operate very well. LuEllen said it was one she took of Galena and her filly and is pictured below.
I just remember laughing as I snapped the 2 pictures below.
Galena's filly AND Lola's filly wouldn't leave LuEllen alone.
After the walk I stopped at Diane's to pick up more checks for the Horsemeister checkbook so I could get Ryan's check in the mail for mowing, raking and baling. That was put in an envelope, addressed, stamped and run down to the mail box and as soon as I walked in the door Ryan called. He wanted to stop by so I ran back down to the mail box, got his check and handed it to him. He is going to be delivering 66 3rd cutting round bales tomorrow morning while I"m at work and will unload and stack them for us.  Giselle was brought in for her grain and a picture taken for her owner. She was supposed to leave a week ago for her new home, we are just waiting for the transport company to arrive.
This morning Dr. Hoerr was coming to do coggins on Ripper, Cinnamon and Abby and an ultrasound on Abby.  He also needed to look at Galena's filly Lyra, Lyra had a superficial cut on her right front leg that I wanted checked. The mares were taken to the indoor and the mud hosed off of their legs then stalled. Ripper had a bunch of burrs in his forelock that had to be removed as 3  pictures are taken of the horse for the coggins test. Lyra's wound was scrubbed and she was also stalled. Dr.Hoerr was also coming to do a vet check on a mare.  When he arrived he drew blood on Ripper and took the pictures needed for the coggins. Ripper was then taken back to the cabin field. He looked at Galena's filly next and told me to keep it clean and keep applying the wound spray. It did not need anything else and he was sure it would heal fine.  Cinnamon had her blood drawn and then was taken outside for pictures. That didn't work well, the sun was either too bright or too much shadow so when it came time for Abby's turn he just took the pictures in the stall.  I wanted an ultrasound done on Cinnamon as she didn't conceive last cover. She was clean with no infection and was just ovulating. She was covered on Saturday so the timing should be fine. Hopefully she will conceive on this cover.  Next was the mare for the pre purchase exam.  He gave her a thorough physical check up starting with her eyes and working his way all the way to the other end. Next was the flexion tests which also went well. Last were the xrays and those were fascinating. He has such an amazing portable xray machine and took pictures of every angle of the front hooves and then the back hocks.

Dr. Hoerr will forward the results to the interested buyer.  As soon as Dr. Hoerr left I jumped in the car to head in to Hanna City to deposit a check then to Kroger to buy food for the Berean meal tomorrow.  Mark was home when I got home so supper was started and poor Mark was the guinea pig. He was made two different dinners, the first got a thumbs down and the second a thumbs up. Emma got the rest of the first meal.  Right after dinner we took the 2 horse trailer off the Chevy truck. Mark fixed the plug and greased the hitch so it will work smoother.  He then started mowing. A bale was moved in for Evan. Mike and Diane took Ripper back to Middle Grove and Mark helped me bring Hadassah and Skye over here. They broke the pump at the cabin field and ran the well dry. Tonight the pictures from yesterday are now downloaded. Below Mark is splitting wood Saturday before the rain came.
Below are pictures at Phil and Anna's house for Sunday dinner with the grand children.

Below are pictures of the evening at the Fellowship Hall. Frank and Judy Palermo told us about Frank's life in the mob and how he converted in the second worst prison in America. He is now preaching in many jails and prisons all over the United States.
