Rosalie OPEN

We had a lot of mail at Berean and a fun group to work with. We even had 2 new volunteers show up this morning. If you would like to read about our morning at the Berean office click HERE.  I was to take the studies right down to Meister's as one of the receptionist would take them for the Roanoke church. Those studies were put on the front seat so I would remember to stop at the shop before going home. That didn't work I forgot to look over at the front seat and drove all the way to Glasford road, turned onto that, looked down and saw the studies, turned around and drove all the way back to Meisters.  Sure am glad the Prius gets good gas mileage. On the way home the second time I saw all of the girls cars parked at Anna's house and stopped in to give Anna and Stephanie their Christmas cards from mom. I didn't stay as I had food in the car that needed to be refrigerated and Dr. Hoerr was suppose to arrive sometime this afternoon for ultrasounds. Karin arrived when she got off work but only had time today to work with 3 of the mares. Rosalie was done first. She did much better today, not so nervous starting out and settling down to work a lot quicker.
Ayanna was next, she too did very well. Both of these mares are a fun ride for Karin.
Galena was pulled out last.  Today Karin introduced the tarp, first on the ground and then riding Galena around the arena waving the tarp above, around and both sides as she walked and trotted her.
That didn't faze her at all.
We were hopeful that Galena would not react to Karin climbing on her rear end after yesterday's bucking but when Karin slid behind the saddle Galena's ears pinned back and when I asked her to go forward her hind legs went off the ground about 2 inches. Good thing this mare is not athletic. We walked her around the arena with Karin sitting on the rear end until Galena relaxed then let her quit. Hopefully tomorrow we will get less reaction.
Dr. Hoer arrived around 5:20 pm and the health certificates on the foals leaving were done first. Indy was going to be sonagrammed next but when Dr. Hoerr turned on the ultrasound machine it didn't turn on. The battery had died and the special cord needed was not on his truck. He palpated Rosalie first and for sure she is open.
We will try to get her covered tomorrow but without an ultrasound have no idea if she is cycling or even in season. That was a disappointment as I already had someone interested in a foal out of her by Evan.
She was due in April and now IF she is cycling and we can get her pregnant the foal would be due in November of 2019.  We lost a lot of months with that loss.  Indy was next and Dr. Hoerr is reasonably sure she did settle. She is due August 25th, 2019.
Indy is such a beautiful, kind mare and was well behaved for Dr. Hoerr.  She is always one of the favorites of any of our guests.
