Now for the record, most of us don't really sing that badly. While we were there Rhonda told us about her night. They had just gone to bed and she was almost asleep when she felt or saw something fly just above her pillow. She sat up exclaiming, "what WAS that?" Spark thought it was probably nothing but Rhonda turned on the light and sure enough there was something flying around in their room, a bat swooped down flying just above the two of them. Rhonda may have screamed a little but Spark told her, "it won't bother us, let's just go to sleep." Rhonda was not at all happy with that statement. She ran downstairs and came up with a minnow net, threw it at Spark and shut the door. Spark climbed up on a stool to catch the bat, got it tangled in the net but then fell off the stool. Rhonda could hear the commotion going on in the bedroom and opened the door to see Spark on the floor and the bat tangled in the net. She ran downstairs again and brought Spark a coffee can but it isn't easy getting a bat into a coffee can. So we were wondering, Is Spark the hero for catching the bat or is it Rhonda for making him get out of bed and catch the bat?
Karin arrived after she got off work today. It only reached 27 degrees here so the horses were worked inside again. We brought Oksana and Tory inside first. We wanted to make sure these mares are no longer coughing and they were NOT. They have not been worked with for at least 2 weeks as we wanted to make sure they were completely healed. Thankfully we can say with assurance we are FLU FREE! Oksana was worked with first.
Today was the first time Karin has ever worked Tory in the indoor arena. Tory was perfect.
While Karin was working with Tory, Oksana was having a good roll in the soft sand.
Tomorrow we will be taking Oksana, Tory, Anna and Lisa out to Middle Grove and will be bringing in Ayanna, Indy and Rosalie. Anna was put in Lisa's paddock so these two will travel out together. That way Lisa will have a buddy at Middle Grove. Oksana and Tory were put away and Valiant and Galena brought inside.
Galena was worked with first. She was very good today, no bucking, no biting.
The last horse worked with was Valiant.
He is so much fun to ride. Karin took the whip, tapped him on his leg and he laid down and stayed there until she asked him to sit.
At that point Karin got off laughing.
She was really only asking for the bow and did not expect him to lay all the way down. She had him practice the bow but we will need to figure out better cues so he doesn't get confused at the fair. Karin had to leave as it was getting late. I got a new bale in for the weanlings this evening. Today was just plain cold for us humans. The horses seem to tolerate it just fine as long as they have plenty of hay to munch on, fresh water and a salt block to lick.
Great story!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy your blog, and horses
