Mark and I left home at 2:30 pm to drive first in to Peoria CEFCU to pick up some money and then to the Peoria airport for our flight to Punta Gorda, Florida. We were a little shocked to find out this airline charged $5.00 just to print out the ticket. While waiting for our plane Bruce Weiss and his wife came up to us and asked, "are you Meisters?" Mark answered yes. Turns out they were on the same plane coming from Florida that we were taking to Florida. Bill Masters was on the same plane as us. He actually lost his license at the airport but had enough other identification they let him board. Then after landing a lady across the aisle, asked, "aren't you a Meister?" I just don't know how they can tell.
After getting off the plane Mark went straight to the rental car while I waited for our one suitcase. It was cheaper to pay for one suitcase than 2 carry-ons with Allegiant. Well it didn't take long for Mark to be back and still no baggage. More and more people crowded into the room waiting for luggage. Finally an airport worker steps up and makes the announcement, "We have had 4 planes land at once. All luggage will be unloaded and mixed together, it is delayed but will come."
The sound in that room was one big groan. These weren't small planes. The good news though was our one suitcase was about the first one on the baggage carousel. We were just heading out the door when alarms started sounding and lights flashing. We were out that door before anyone could stop us and off to our waiting brand new Toyota Corolla threw our one suitcase in and started the hour drive to our new home for the next 4 days. This is a nice little in-law quarters with a private bath, a small table, microwave, fridge, coffee maker and private bath. Our hosts greeted us with "if there is anything you need just ask." We arrived well after 10:00 pm so just now have emptied the suitcase, updated this blog and are heading to bed.
