Jewel Delivers

When Rhoda and Emily made it back from the doctor they started working Jenis and Marika. Emily is going to be riding Jenis in the parade of breeds at the CIRTS benefit during the polo match at Weaver Farm and wanted to get familiar with her. Marika needs work on the canter. Below is Emily on Jenis
 Below is Rhoda schooling Marika
Below Rhoda is giving Emily pointers on getting Jenis soft in the bridle.
They took them on a trail ride before putting them back. Emily pulled out Evan and he was excellent in the arena but wasn't as good on the trail ride. He just was so distracted by the mares. Ella is in season and was covered today by him. We had fried chicken for dinner. After supper I was being lazy and thought about leaving Jewel out for the night but by 9:15pm I just couldn't do it and went out to bring her in. Imagine my surprise to see she had just delivered her foal. Emily came out to help move them into a stall. The filly is a black bay with an amazing amount of hair.

We watched her nurse, iodined her cord, watched her get up on her own, lay down on her own and nurse again before leaving them in the stall for the night. I am thankful for a safe delivery and a healthy filly.
