Wedding Day

We woke up this morning around 5:00am and it was raining. The pictures were to take place at Jubilee College 8:00am. David got to the college 40 minutes before the photographer, Rachel Sauder was due and just started praying that the rain would stop and it DID! We were there by 8:40am and the rest of the wedding party all showed up around the same time. I just had to snap the 3 pictures I posted while David and Stephanie were being posed by Rachel. Rachel kept us hopping and the family pictures went quickly and well and Stephanie's parents and Mark and I all were at morning church in plenty of time. Church was pretty full, Bill Schick had the morning service and he just happened to open to Jesus' first miracle, the water into wine at the wedding in Cana. That worked into a great wedding sermon. Lunch was good and plentiful and I was thankful. I hadn't had supper the night before, just had too much prime rib at the rehearsal lunch to want any of the pig roast, then we didn't cook breakfast, just had a cup of coffee with a bite of coffee cake Kim Sceggel brought.
After lunch they started taking in the wedding guest and we were starting to worry they wouldn't get in to the sanctuary, there just seemed to be so many people milling around in the foyer. Finally the hymn Love At Home was given out and David took mom in then Mark and I and last Martha Kay and Dana. Jim Plattner stood up and welcomed everyone and asked us to sing 212, The 23rd Psalm. David led the groomsmen in and then the bridesmaids started to walk down the aisle. Each one was just beautiful, like a crown with Stephanie the starring diamond, all the bridesmaids in black with a pink flower in their hair and at their waist and Stephanie in a beautiful white dress, a true bride adorned for her husband. The wedding service was so personable, Erik Givens has been a friend of Stephanie's family for years and knows them so well. Finally Jim Plattner had the vows and David and Stephanie were husband and wife, then over to the reception. That started at 2:00pm and NEVER had a break of people coming to congratulate the bride and groom until close to 5:00pm. We were exhausted by the time the end of the line came. After Stephanie threw the bouquet and they took off in Rhoda's mini cooper (David's car was all decorated so they fooled us by leaving in Rhoda's) we had a nice meal of chicken, potatoes, peas, and home made bread. Just as we sat down to eat David called, he needed to know how to put mini cooper top up. That's the first wedding that the groom calls his parents 20 minutes after leaving the reception! He also forgot his phone in his own car and wanted to take it on the honeymoon. Mark and I left to get David a phone but he had already left so we started for home. We were about 10 minutes on the road when Ben calls, he left his suit coat hanging up at the fellowship hall so back we went. We finally got home around 7:00pm and are just too tired to head out to the lake for the camp fire.
