Oksana and Irish were moved over to the middle paddock this morning to join Ripper and Mika. There are 2 good bales in that paddock and hopefully those will last as long as this cold spell lasts. We only had single digits with below zero wind-chills again today. I picked up mom after the first round of walk to head to the Berean office where lots of mail waited. If you would like to read about our morning there click HERE. We had to stop around noon and weren't able to finish but I will go back again tomorrow. We stopped at Kroger in Bartonville on the way home to pick up mom's prescriptions but had to wait about 20 minutes while they filled the order. We used that time to shop. The next few pictures were taken in a winter of 2013 of our 3rd stallion Killian. Rhoda was training Killian and I got the entire sequence of her asking him to bow, then lay down and finally sit up.
Killian was supposed to be Horsemeister's future. He had the very best bloodlines both sire and dam in FHANA, was not related at all to our other 2 stallions. We bought him as a weanling. The picture below was after he had been here a couple months.Day to day operation of a Friesian breeding farm standing 2 Friesian stallions. We have 6-10 foals each year out of Purebred Friesian mares, Andalusian mares, Thoroughbred mares and Friesian sport mares by Judy Sceggel 309-208-3840 www.horsemeister.com

Sometimes We Lose
Below he is 3 years old and had just come back from his first 'real' show where he won some blue ribbons with Emily.
He had the mega hair, was going to be at least 16.2 had a wonderful disposition and yet when he was 3 years old we had him collected and it turned out he did not have a good enough sperm count to be a breeding stallion. The goal had been to keep a few fillies from Indy, Oksana, Ayanna, Hadassah, Jewel or Rosalie to breed to Killian as the fillies from those mares are related to both of our stallions. Sometimes you win a few and some times we lose. We did not need a gelding so Killian had to go.
