Fun Times in Years Past
Mom tried to start her car this morning hoping to take it to quilting except it has been sitting in her garage for a couple months and wouldn't start. Instead we took my car. She was dropped off at church and I went grocery shopping first at Aldi then over to Walmart to pick up a small bag of dog food for Molly. From there I went to the Berean office, worked on studies and stuffed and wrapped 2 and a half boxes of Bibles before picking mom back up and heading home. Amy came over this afternoon for a nice visit. We hadn't seen each other since last year and had a lot of catching up to do while I worked on laundry. After she left David's message on the Paul's second missionary journey was downloaded, made into a video and uploaded on youtube so it can be emailed to my aunt.
Mark got the wood burner going and we are enjoying the warmth while working on the computers. It is still very cold and will continue to be frigid for the next 10 days according to the weather man. Time for some fun summer pictures to remind us of how fun summer IS! These pictures are years old and I'm not sure I can identify the horses but here goes. Below is Rebekah riding Cindy and Caleb riding Larry. Cindy was sold in foal to Raven in 2012. Cindy is a Welsh Cob section C. Larry was a registered Arabian and very well trained. He was a lifer and lived well into his 20s and died probably around 5 years ago.
Sarah is probably riding Bunni and it looks like Rachel is riding Sunny. Sunny has a wonderful home in Michigan. Bunni now lives with Kayla.
They were camping at Jubilee and had a wonderful camp fire that night.
Below Karin is heading out on the trails at Jubilee as the leader on Mika. Mika is a lifer here.
Below is Rhoda on Sunny.
Rebekah had fun teaching Cindy how to rear.
Below is Hannah (who just got married a couple months ago) riding Paris. Paris was given to Ruth to live out her life at that retirement home. She passed away about 3 years ago.
Below is Anni having a fun gallop on Larry the Arabian.
Below is one of the many races that weekend. We couldn't believe fat Cindy could keep up with them. That is Bethany in the lead on Duke. Rebekah on Cindy is second, Jessica on Paris and Anni on Larry are neck and neck.
Duke and Bethany take the lead. Duke went to a lovely family but only because there was no fence here that would keep him in. We were so afraid he would get into the farmers corn fields and founder.
The winner is Bethany and Duke.
That was such a fun weekend. Notice no helmets, no special shoes, and no saddles and all having a blast. Remember we were brought up with NO riding instructions just horses and kids. A hundred or more years ago they would have made great Indians. If we wanted to ride we had to learn balance and of course to 'watch our feet' around horses. Thankfully and of course amazingly no one was ever hurt. Ten years ago we took 10 horses to Farmington, Iowa camping and didn't realize until we got there that all 10 horses were of a different breed. Below is a video of that trip.
