Mark and I went right to work this morning moving firewood inside for the wood burners and then filling the porch with more firewood. We are now ready for the deep freeze coming tonight.
The wood burner in the living room won't be fired up until tomorrow morning as it is still above zero today.A black cat came walking up our drive. This is not Rhonda's cat or Rachel's cat as both of their cats have white markings. We would be pleased if the cat decided to stay here as we only have 1 cat here to keep the mouse population down. I didn't see the cat later in the day so not sure if it wandered on home.
Mom wanted to get out of the house this morning and made arrangements with Ruth to meet at her house and if all went well get everything done on her list. Except when I tried to take the golf cart over to mom's the ice was so bad the golf cart ended up sliding all the way down the hill then got stuck on the side of the drive when I tried to get it back up. I ended up hiking back up to the house and taking the car over to mom's. We decided it was just too icy for her to drive her car so I took mom and my car over to Ruth's, Ruth drove me to the end of the drive and I hiked back up to the house. The other roads are fine, just our drives are covered with thick slick ice. Ruth and mom went shopping at Kroger then drove to Morton to pick up Nancy and took her to lunch at Culvers. From there they brought Nancy here. I met them at the end of the drive, took Ruth home then mom and Nancy to mom's house. Joan is keeping Nancy over night. Mark was busy spreading sand on the driveways and that worked pretty well. The snow started up around 2:00 pm and by the time Anna showed up with the girls it was already drifting across Hanna City Glasford Road. All the guys went to Ben and Taunya's house today to start demolition on their basement while the girls took the grandkids to Rhoda's house for swimming and playing with puppies. This evening Anna and Phil needed to get some work done at Meisters so Braelyn, Taegan and Kensley came here for a couple hours and played games with me. Ruth and Fedi took in a man named Jeff that needed a place to stay for a while and he has no shoes. He wears size 13 so if anyone has an extra pair of shoes they don't need size 13 please let Ruth know or bring them to church tomorrow and we will be glad to drop them off at her house.
