The morning was gorgeous, we had 2 inches of new fallen snow so light, and so fluffy it was sparkling like millions of diamonds. The pictures just don't do it justice. The first picture is walking over to mom's house looking down at Diane's as the sun was coming up.
Just Ruth and I walked today, Joan was expecting company and had work to do to get ready. The new snow on top of the other snow which was on top of ice made for a treacherous walk. Ruth fell even though she was wearing her ice tracks on her shoes. She wasn't hurt as the snow was soft but we were really glad mom didn't try to come. The next few pictures are after the walk. We just kept marveling at the beauty.
Mom and I left around 9:00 am to get her hearing aid fixed. The right one wasn't working at all. The place was up on route 91 and after the hearing aids were dropped off we shopped at Aldi while waiting for the call to tell us it was fixed. That came even before we finished shopping. It was a broken wire. Mom was very thankful it was the hearing aid and not her ear that was not working. We picked it up and headed home then put away the groceries. I had to pick up Mark at 1:30 for our appointment in Princeville at 2:00 pm. After that appointment instead of going back to the shop to pick up his car we just went home arriving by 3:00 pm. I needed 3 bales moved in and Mark needed to plow the drives before dark. By 3:37 we were out moving bales and by 4:35 pm he quit plowing for the day.
After moving the bales I took a few pictures of the horses. Grace, Irish's 2020 filly by Valiant was the first to see me coming. She came running which gave the other 2 fillies a warning and they came running up also. The black filly is Sheena's 2020 filly by Valiant. She will be very tall, will be pitch black and will excel in combined training. Her registered name is Mayberry and her price is $6000.00 The bay is Jewel's filly by Evan. She was sold and the owner named her Dana's Crown Jewel but then could not purchase her because of Covid. She is for sale for $5000.00. She has amazing movement will excel in dressage but would also hold up for combined training, is very sweet and will be tall.
Below they are all begging for attention.
Oksana and Mika are pictured below. I thought Oksana may have lost her foal but in the picture below I'm now not certain, she is sticking out on both sides
I tried to get pictures of her from all sides and just can't tell if she is pregnant or just fat. If she is pregnant she would be due April 30th.
Ripper is pictured below. He is such a beautiful dappled gray gelding.
Irish is obviously pregnant. She was bred to Valiant and due April 23rd.
Of course I had to head over to Valiant and give him attention also.
While supper cooked Mark and I brought more wood in for the night and got the wood burner going again. It was such a beautiful warm day with a high of 23 and sunshine I didn't bother starting it earlier as most of the day I was gone. The temperature is already falling and is supposed to drop down to 2 degrees by morning but the warm up is coming and the sunshine today made it FEEL warm.
The lady that bought Zalena just posted the picture below:
Zalena is 22 years old this year and is due March 11th but usually goes early. Everyone is hoping she holds off until the weather warms up. Kres, the owner chose to breed her to Evan before taking her home and we think this was a wonderful choice. Katherine the owner of a 3 year old stallion out of Zalena by Evan posted this picture below. This is the FULL sibling of Zalena's expected foal.
