Progress Perhaps
We couldn't walk this morning as it was raining. Instead I left early for the Berean office as we had a lot of work to do there today. If you would like to read about what we did there click HERE. I got home around 1:00 pm and as soon as I changed into my work clothes went out to start moving bales. The short shelter got a new bale and Jenis was moved in there. The weanlings were fed grain so a new bale could be put in their paddock. When the skid steer was put away Ayanna was pulled out and her udder checked it seemed like it is now starting to fill so perhaps we are making progress. She was taken into the stall I have prepared and given a good grooming. She had obviously rolled around and had dried mud pretty much everywhere. That is also a good sign of progress as mares will roll to get the foal into position. We are so praying for a normal delivery and a healthy foal. She has the most gorgeous foals by Evan. Below is Ayanna's last foal by Evan now owned and loved by Dixie.
She was left in the stall while the back gate to the pond pasture was locked shut and Hadassah moved into the middle paddock. The mares need to be locked off the pasture now as the grass is no longer growing and it has been raining making lots of mud. Ayanna was quiet in the stall while waiting to be taken back outside. She has the most beautiful foals and I sure hope she really IS making progress. Below is a video of Ayanna with one of her foals by Evan.
She is such a big mare and a fun ride but we don't put beginners on her, her movement is huge.
Each day I'm bringing her inside for a bit so she gets used to being stalled. She was put in the middle paddock with Hadassah. She is such a smart mare. The video below was taken almost exactly 6 years ago of Sarah and Rhoda working with trick training Ayanna.
Ayanna had big movement even when she was a weanling. Check out the big hesitation in her trot as a 7 month old filly.
it's so crazy seeing her at Bridlewood that day we brought her over from the Hanna City Farm. And to see Solo in the background :-)
