Nuclear Missile Emergency Alert

All evening yesterday Emma kept asking to go outside and would run to the side yard barking then kept squatting. She asked to go out at midnight and again at 1:15 am. I was exhausted by letting her in and out during the night and each time she would go all the way around the house squatting over and over. By morning I was ready to call the vet believing she must have a bladder infection until mom called and then it ALL made sense. Mom called to tell me she just saw a coyote trotting down our driveway in broad daylight. This coyote must have been staying in or near our yard most of yesterday evening and during the night marking. Emma was busy protecting the house and for sure protecting little Ruby who is staying with us for a couple weeks. I'm thankful she takes her job serious but so tired we will for sure have an early night.
The lake froze over and last night the ice was 4 inches thick making it safe for ice skating. Everyone has been showing up enjoying the smooth ice last night and today but no one thought to take pictures. Dan brought Diesel out and made a short video of Diesel on the ice during some of the fun times this morning.

I went out to warm up the truck for the first trip to Middle Grove around 7:45 am and found the trailer doors were frozen shut. Right about the time I needed help David Sauder arrived and got the doors open. Karin and I were able to haul 9 horses home in 3 trips. When we arrived the horses were all sunning themselves on the hillside. It was only 9 degrees out but they were sheltered from the wind and enjoying the morning sun.

I only took a few pictures as it was much to cold to go without gloves. If you would like to see the rest of the pictures click HERE. We took Galena, Indy, Oksana and Darla on the first trip. Jenis, Zalena and Ayanna on the second trip and Anna and Rosalie on the last trip.  Kayla was here waiting so the 4 of them were taken right into the barn for grooming.
The middle paddock waterer was frozen so I had to get the hair dryer from the house and let it blow hot air into the pit until the lines defrosted.  By the time we finished both Karin and I were pretty frozen and hungry. We ended up going to the Warehouse for a late lunch. Today they had their homemade tenderloin with fries on special for $6.95. We both ordered that and each of us took half back for Mark so he ended up with a whole.
Rhoda and Lee had quite a scare. They are in Hawaii and were at breakfast around 7:30 am. They sent this to us: Our phones (Emergency alert) and TV stated that a missile was headed our way and it was not a drill. impact was eminent TAKE COVER!
Well they went up to their room and turned on the television to see if it was true and the television was saying the same thing!  Lee wrote:"Believe it or not I stayed pretty cool."
They ended up going down to the beach and enjoying themselves and soon found out it was a false alarm. Lee said that this is one benefit living in Illinois, North Korea can't send bombs yet that can reach Illinois.

They also got to go on the whale watching boat and saw lots of whales.
This evening Mark and I took Braely, Taegan and Kensley to the Bible class' annual pancake supper. These girls had a ball at the candy store. They were each given $3.00 to spend and all three were pretty thrilled with their purchases.

We got there early and were almost the first customers. Just Cheryl Grassi and Crystal Klopfenstein beat us so we all sat together. By the time we were ready to leave, the fellowship hall had filled up. Mark visited the Kountry Kitchen and bought a blackberry raspberry pie Marie Unsicker made. We brought it home, took half out for us then took the other half to Phil and Anna's when we dropped off the girls. While we were busy with the pie the girls were busy playing store with the coins.
What a busy Saturday. I'm so thankful the hauling was done without problems and the horses are now home and ready to be worked.
