A Warm December 3rd

Another beautiful morning turned into another beautiful day. As I was up graining the weanlings early this morning Mike showed up to work on the electrical of the automatic waterer he and Tim put in yesterday. We have to figure out the best way to get power to that waterer. He brought over his tractor to dump a couple loads of gravel on the drive where the yanmar dug it up to bury the electric line.

I was pleased to see that the weanlings were all anxious for breakfast and doing well without their mothers. Right now we have 4 in the far paddock. Easter Bonnet is the oldest at 7 and a half months old but she has been weaned for a while. Sheena's filly Ella Skye is almost exactly 7 months old and should have been weaned at least a month ago. Eli is 6 and a half months old and more than ready. Poor Dublin is just over 4 months old which is old enough to wean but we usually don't wean quite that early. Just he is going to his new home in a couple weeks and we need to make sure all is well. The good thing is every one of them are fighting over and gobbling up their grain. I have 5 buckets out for the 4 weanlings and it is funny to watch them go from bucket to bucket.
We picked mom up for church around 9:15 am. We really did have another wonderful Sunday listening to Craig Stickling give the morning message on Elijah reading 1 Kings 18, competition between the 450 profits of Baal and Elijah where God and only God sent down fire from heaven to burn up not just the sacrifice but also the wood and stones of the alter. Then in 1 Kings 19 where Elijah is so discouraged he wants to die.  David Obergfel reading John 9 and gave the afternoon message of the man born blind, Jesus healed him on the Sabbath. Are we as blind as the Pharisees that we condemn the Healer instead of marveling at the miracle?
Today Mike put a halter on Ella Skye and gave her a leading lesson. The picture below was taken a month ago.
Tomorrow I'll get updated pictures of her, she is really beautiful and we are glad we kept her. She has great movement, will be tall, is sensible and will be bred to Evan at age 3.  Karin was working horses in the outdoor on this warm sunny December 3rd in her t-shirt. She had already worked with Jenis and Zalena when we arrived and was working with Indy. Below is Indy.
Mike pulled out Ripper and gave him a refresher course on long lining.

Ripper did extremely well remembering everything taught him last year. Ripper turned 3 years old in May and it is past time to get him going under saddle. Mike is hiring Rhoda to get him started and also wants her to teach him to bow, lay down, sit and rear and all in 3 weeks as all the horses will be hauled back to Middle Grove before our Sibling trip to Gulf Shores Dec 22nd. Well Mike really just wants her to give him a good start.
Karin worked with Rosalie last, below she has finished the under saddle work and is finishing up her training by asking her for a bow.
After supper Diane, Karin, Ruth, mom and I played Mexican train. Phil and Anna dropped off the girls, they played so nicely with each other in the basement until the game finished. I took them home on the golf cart while Diane, Nancy and Mom went over to see Joan's Christmas decorations. They had the outside of their house all lit up beautifully.  Diane let me ride with her when she took Nancy home. It really was another beautiful day from the very start to the very end. How thankful I am for family. God is SO good.
