Day Off

Emma's stall was stripped today of straw then new pelleted bedding put down. Straw is good for foaling but awful to clean.
After the walk Sangria was taken over to the stallions to see if she was still in her foal heat and she is not. Her colt is only 12 days old and was playing peek-a-boo with the branches when I arrived to get her.

Check out that tail, it is so bushy, thick and curly it is obvious he got that from his Friesian sire Valiant.
Once they were put back, Indy, her filly and Jenis were let out into the big field for grazing time.
The horses were kind of muddy after the storm last night. Indy's filly had a muddy neck after a good roll but the mud doesn't detract from that arched neck. This is a fantastic filly. Her movement is amazing. Emily will be home Tuesday night so maybe next Wednesday we can get a video of that.
Before going in for breakfast the mares were teased. Jurista is still in, it looks like Soul may be coming in and Flower (Laura's mare) is still saying no.
I ordered a load of gravel and that was delivered this morning. That was dumped by the trailer, we hope to have enough to make a parking lot for the trailers and still have some for the barn drive.
Then this afternoon the lime was delivered for the new round pen.
Karin sent through some video clips of the horses at Middle Grove. They all look great. If I get time I'll put them together and post it. The only place I had to go today was the grocery store. It is nice to have a day off once in a while. The afternoon got hot and muggy so Ribbon was brought in, hosed off and stalled for the afternoon. The stall barn is well insulated and stays cool. She is over due but her udder is still flat. After supper Mark came out to help move in a new round bale for the middle paddock. Ribbon was put back out and both stalls cleaned for the night. Emma's water bucket filled and new hay brought inside. The infrared camera doesn't seem to be working tonight. Today was an easy relaxed day.
